Looking to book flight for my fiancee to fly here, on some booking agents in the terms and conditions they may refuse passenger if name on ticket is different to name on card.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to make flight booking? is it better to send her the money to buy her ticket?

You can just send her a scanned copy of the card used and maybe a note that she is your fiancé and all that. I did that with Malaysia Airlines but they didn't ask for it in the end. Just prepared for it, in case.

My personal preference would be to avoid the booking agents and to go direct with the airline, you will often find there is little difference in the price.

Some airlines do have a policy regards proof of purchase of the ticket, again personally I would not like to have to email a scan of a card as they usually want both sides.

Make a call direct to the airline's booking line and ask the question.

Just check any other conditions imposed by the agent very carefully.

If you book with Expedia, you don't need to present any card used. I used my aunt's credit card and I wasn't asked by Emirates staff to present the card used.

Also, I got my ticket cheaper than the airline's website.

The problem is not the agent, or the airline, it is the check in staff, who can be clueless buggers on occasion.

Even if you don't think there will be a problem, there is no harm in sending a scan of your passport and credit card, with "I certify that I authorise purchase of this ticket for XXX XXX to fly from YYY to ZZZ on 23/10/17", (or similar) written on the same page.

Sign and date it by hand, you might even detail your phone number and job title (real or imaginary) as well.

I did this when the Missus and nipper escaped in 2011 no one asked for it though except the Dutch when she entered the Schengan Zone wanted to see my passport

I booked a flight for someone and just checked them in online and then they printed the ticket. No credit card mentioned

In order to minimise the fraudulent use of stolen credit card details, many airlines might require that the original card, or a verified copy of it, is available at the airport check in desk, especially if the passenger name differs from the card holder name. They may or may not ask for it to be shown.

I recall on occasion being asked to present the card I had used to book my own ticket.

    Different airlines have different policies.

Never happened to me ( bound to happen next week now though, i have 8 flights in 4 weeks ) and I often have my travel booked and paid for by the company using a travel agency.

This is from the Emirates site, I guess the answer is in the red text.

Can I make a booking online with my credit card if I am not travelling myself?
This will depend on the country of departure. In some countries, for security reasons, the holder of the credit card used to book a ticket or group of tickets must be one of the travellers on that itinerary or have the same family name. In some cases, you may be required to present the credit card used to pay for the tickets at the airport check-in counter prior to receiving your boarding pass.

On the Enter billing information page where the credit card details are entered, if the "Cardholder last name" can be typed in, you will be able to pay for the booking even if you are not travelling and do not hold the same family name as one of the travellers. If the "Cardholder last name" appears in a drop-down menu and cannot be changed from those of the travellers, you will unfortunately not be able to pay for the booking unless you are travelling or have the same family name.

As an alternative, you could select a different payment option where available, such as bank transfer, PayPal or simply to book online and make the payment at a local Emirates office. The options available will depend on the country of departure and how much time remains prior to your flight.

The rule appears to be "if you are paying the airline direct (ie on its own web site), then you may be asked to produce the card at check-in. If you buy and pay for your ticket through a travel agency, then it is up to the agency to check that it is your card - by getting you to sign the payment voucher or entering a PIN code. Online ticketers such as eBookers and LastMinute automatically request for VISA/Mastercard verification when you make payment."

Two exceptions to the above: Cebu Pacific and Air Asia (Philippines), including Zest, may require to see the credit card regardless of where the ticket was purchased.

i was browsing flight search sites yesterday--and came across gatwick flights. it never occurred to me there were any from there. could be better for my mrs to use gatwick rather than heathrow. direct trains from portsmouth.

Ive looked at Gatwick before and a comparison to Heathrow flights are always dearer out of Gatwick, but for convenience and cost of trains etc it maybe a better option

Cebu Pacific don't care, I specifically phoned them up and asked them if I could buy a ticket for Ana from Korea to Manila, I was told there would be no requirement for verification of the card, I have done this several times, most recently in April when she flew Air Asia because she always needs someone else to help her buy the ticket, although for the last couple of years I have demanded the money from her up front before I would use my card to make the booking.
