As a dual citizen, What passport will I use when travelling to the Philippines?

    Hi, planning my first trip back to Philippines after acquiring dual citizenship , just a question about what passport shall I use exiting the Uk, what to present to Philippine immigration and going back to Uk. Thanks guys

    Regards exiting the UK the only person that will look at the passport is the person at the check-in desk, if you are going back for more than 21 days then show them both passports as you are not subject to the Philippine visit restrictions applied to foreigners.

    When arriving in the Philippines show your Philippine passport you can also present your UK passport if you like, when you leave the Philippines to return to the UK again present your Philippine passport first and then your UK passport, basically the Philippine passport basically means there can be no issue with however long you spent in the Philippines, the UK passport says you won't get kicked out of the UK when you arrive.

    So Just present both.

    I agree with your second paragraph - returning from the Philippines - but not with your first. The last time I flew back to the Philippines was in 2014 and I began my journey at Cardiff Airport. That was a KLM CityHopper flight to Amsterdam and Border Force were checking passports. And your 21 day visa-free stay is a little outdated, it's now 28 days!

    It's actually 30 days, my brain had a short circuit you are quite correct it is more than 21 days.

    Regards passport checking by UK border officials I have not been checked at all at Manchester, Liverpool or Glasgow at any time in the last 14 years, only the check-in desk ever looked at my passport on exit from the country and of course the airline staff at the departure gate.

    I'm flying from london, so to exit I'll use my UK passport and when I land I'll show both my uk/phil passport and going back I'll use my UK again? thanks

    Use your Filipino PP to show that you entered R.P as a citizen and your Brit passport to show that you do not require a visa to enter the UK..
    When you arrive in the UK just use the Brit passport line and show only your Brit passport.

    My kids recently flew to Japan and both have British/Japanese dual citizenship.

    We checked with the woman checking them in and he said they should use their Japanese passports for checking in in the UK and when getting into Japan, then use their UK passports at the desk in Japan and when landing in the UK.

    She also told them not to worry about it and just show both whenever needed.
