Philippines has the longest Christmas celebration. We start thinking about when the first 'Ber' month comes - September. At that month radio stations will start playing christmas music (well, my father started playing christmas music before september :erm:), corporates will start organizing and planning christmas parties, the countdown for xmas begins, ayala will start putting up xmas lights etc... I have heard from balikbayans that there are no christmas like the philippine christmas now, I wanted to know from you guys who experienced pasko in pinas. How do you find it? did you enjoy your xmas here in the philippines :like: or did it leave you traumatized in some ways :(

I love they way the Philippines have a long celebration towards Christmas, it makes for a such a bright and colourful place. Last time we were in the Philippines, the streets of Tacloban came alive with a stunning display of Christmas lights, everyone seemed happy with it, by contrast, here in the UK we moan and grumble every year. I think I'd rather the Philippines Christmas, at least it doesn't seem to sales driven like here in the UK.

    Me too :like:

I just the love the long and lovely Philippine build up.
I once cooked a traditional British Christmas lunch on Christmas day. Not much was eaten. Luckily there was lechon.
Oh, the yorkshire puddings went down well.

Must say, personally I enjoyed the church festivities too.

    The weather is kinder too.

This year is the first year in seven that I will not be with Ana and the kids at least in part, Ana was in Korea one Christmas but came to the UK a couple of days after Christmas day, but this year is the first I will not be able to be with either the kids or Ana.

The whole Christmas season thing is a bit over the top, one year Ana did not take the tree down till late February :D

But it is cute and somehow suits the country.

My Christmases over there have inevitably been more about the kids and other people and generally have been very humble.

The fun is in the kids games on Christmas day, we've not been that big on presents over the years.

In the outlying Metro Manila cities you don't always get the same atmosphere as there is just not the money for all the decorations although our subdivision does reasonably well.

xmas season is really great here in the phils... whenever we hear xmas, we always wish for snow but its when we hear news about bad, heavy snows and death due to the freezing temperature, we start thanking our nice, cold breeze instead :)

Christmas is Christmas wherever you may be..........:vhappy:

    It is for children, really...........:D:rolleyes:

The only problem is that nowadays, Christmas is far too commercialized, and it goes on for too long...........
