““On December 8, 2017 El Nido banned all Single use Plastic bags, Plastic straws, Plastic utensils, Styrofoam cups and take out boxes, plastic cups, plastic garbage bags etc.

Travelers are encouraged to travel with their own Water bottle and refill them at Hotels or some refill stations for a small fee. In Restaurant you must ask for the free Service water.

Restaurants and Bars are using Bamboo straws and Paper straw and many also encourage guests to drink straight from the glass.

Food take out should best avoided or minimized. Remember all garbage goes to a Landfill. Not all plastic bottles are being recycled. Palawanconsists of over 1000 islands.

The increase of Ocean garbage washed up on islands and beaches the past 5 years has become very alarming. Regular beach clean ups have taken place.”

I notice today that the U.K. and Commonwealth countries are aiming to follow a similar line.

Some of us have been doing (or not doing ) this stuff for years.

I was taught not to litter and pollute my surroundings... or to be wasteful. I have taught my children to be the same. Simple really.

We do composting in my parents house which takes care of stuff that smells or rots. Cans, bottles, papers and some good plastics are sold to recycling shop (so we earn from it). So when the council asks for our garbage on their weekly pickup, its mostly the unusable plastics.

In a house of 4 ppl, our weekly garbage disposal is a handful of plastics.
