    Hi all,

Completed two trips to see my (now) fiancee, and now booking my third. This will be the end of next month.

We want to base ourselves in Makati this time, so am looking for any hotel recommendations for 3 or 4 star. I'm budgeting around £550 for 9 nights.

We stayed in Golden Phoenix and Hotel 101 in Pasay before which we liked - to give you an idea of what we're looking for.

Are there any particular areas we should try to avoid or stay close to? And likewise any hotels to completely avoid?

    Thank you!

Any comments on City Garden Grand Hotel or Jinjiang Inn? These are both four star and within my budget - just blasting through booking.com's offerings.

In March we stayed at the Avant Serviced Suites in BGC. Booked it on line 40 odd quid a night, really clean studio flat, security desk etc. Close by to Forbestown Road, loads of bars and eating places. Tipsy Pig, Watering Hole, Tap station (Real Ale) to name a few...enjoy!

Been to City Garden twice in 2011 and we have nothing but good experience of our stay there.

City Garden is a perfectly good hotel, good rooms good price nice roof restaurant and pool, but just be aware it is 200 yards from the Makati red light district so when going out at night you need to be careful where you choose to visit.

There are several very good Chinese restaurants basically one across the road (North Park chain) and one a few yards down the road, good prices and good quality, when going out (long long time ago) I tended to go down to Malate, Remedios circle area, that place has changed a lot these days with a strong catering for Korean tourists but it is still nice, restaurants like Adriatico, Korean Palace and my favourite pool (Billiards) hall are still there and there is a good selection of music venues there as well.

City Garden is also not too far from Greenbelt which is a bit nicer but you won't be walking, there are also many other more expensive larger hotels around the Greenbelt area as well.

I've only stayed in Makati twice . The first time was at The Prince Plaza , which is just a few minutes walk from Greenbelt , with its large selection of restaurants , which are nice for an evening out . Also very nearby is Glorietta Mall which is very big .

Prince Plaza has rooms or suites , which are well appointed with everything you could need ie fridge freezer , microwave , mini kitchen .
I enjoyed my stay there .

The second time was at Hotel At Green Sun , which is convenient for VFS global office , but a bit further away from Greenbelt and therefore a taxi ride .

When I stayed in Makati in 2019, I stayed at the Leez Inn hotel. Recently completed new hotel. Very clean, good service and only a 5 minute walk to Bar, restaurants and also Hott Asia for live entertainment.
