Just an update for anyone interested.

Just left the bureau of immigration, literally few minutes ago, although I followed everything on the checklist to a tee, I have to return another day.

My wife's cousin has a contact in the acr department so we went to visit him with all our documents to have them double checked, they looked through them and asked where my NBI clearance was, I stated that your official checklist says I only need it if I've been here 6 months or more.

He replied that everyone, no matter how long they've been here, always need NBI clearance. I did show them my police clearance certificate from the UK however they said they wouldn't accept it.

I need to return with my NBI clearance certificate and they said it'll be fine then.

A little annoyed because we drove for 3 hours to get there.

I'm reassured though, at the least, that all my documents are fine and in order minus the NBI clearance.

Will keep you updated after I receive my clearance.

You're the first 13a applicant that I've heard about who has been told to produce a NBI clearance - even though they've been in-country less than six months - and that the ACPO certificate you have won't be accepted. Normally it's the other way around. I'm wondering whether this is down to you using a private contact to speed-up the issue of your ACR card - which would be forthcoming as part of the 13a process at any event.

Went to NBI yesterday, the one on UN Ave. And was in and out in 30min, just need to collect it Tuesday after which I'll go straight to intramuros and start my visa application

So has anyone got an update for this...about to start the same application. Checklist quite clearly states NBI only needed is been there for 6 months. Not having to get it would save a lot of hassle. Manila for me is a 6 hour bus ride from home and then you have to wait 3 or 4 days to collect it. Not exactly straight forward. Seems odd to me that a government document is not being adhered to

Why not get an NBI clearance nearer where you live before you apply?

Because as a foreigner you have to go to the main office in manila to apply for it...you cant get one from a satalite office. Locals can but not a foreigner unfortunately.

I have my visa and ACR-I card now, and yes, you will need NBI clearance no matter how long you've been there, it was a pain for me too as it was 3hr drive

Could you please give an idea of total processing cost ?

Presumably this is for your 12 months 'probationary' ? :)

Yes, probationary, it was around Just over 11,000 peso.

8,700 roughly for the visa and acr card etc... and 2,500 for the express lane charges (not sure why they charge you this as they are slow as hell)

Then you have to do it all again for the permanent one. Don't forget the annual reporting in January.

    Thanks guys.

I'm hoping that perhaps my nearest immigration office (Dagupan) may be able to process the 13A. - Will investigate.

Dumaguete is not on Luzon so unsurprising....if on Luzon you need to go to Manila.
