    Here's a thought...

If UKVI are now taking 120 working days to decide 'most applications' - their words! - will they now start rejecting applications because evidence is 'out of date', as much of the evidence required from the applicant is only valid for 6 months?

I don’t think they do that. I believe they go from your submission date. Well, they have done in the past.

Well, that's a relief! I wouldn't put anything past them, to achieve their objectives...

But lets hope the team looking after my wife's second FLR application isnt the same team having to look after your application:like:

I always saw these “teams” as being “multi skilled” as in being on settlement visas one day and on FLRs on another, covering people on holiday and demand driven etc etc.

But FLR seems to be less problematic with the added bonus that the Mrs is already in the U.K.

I totally agree... getting the partner here is by far the most long-winded and stressful part of the process...!

I'm wondering whether the increasing delays aren't being caused by the technology used - in part, at least. It seems to me that the increases in time taken from submission to a decision being reached could be down to the fact that everything is now scanned into UKVI's computer system - which is unlikely to be cutting edge by today's standards (it might have been in the nineties and noughties but not now).

In the "old" days, an ECO would have a file containing an applicant's paperwork and cross-referencing the answers on the application with the supporting evidence was a straightforward physical process - he'd likely have the application on his desk sitting next to the rest of the documentation in the "evidence file" and could quickly flick through the various pages. But now everything is on computer and I would suggest that UKVI has not invested our tax money in providing each employee with displays large enough to give the electronic equivalent of document pages side by side. Cross-referencing stuff is almost certainly a more time-consuming exercise made more difficult by health and safety issues of, among others, RSI and eye strain.

It will always depend on the strength of your case and complexity of information you supply.
Sadly on here you only ever get one side of the story.

I disagree I think it' all to do with quality of application and complexity of information supplid and third party responding to requests, and the volume of information required.
Some applications are going to very basic and straightforward others more complex.
Why should straightforward ones sit behind complex ones waiting for responses.
    E.G.
Applicant one freelance self employed musician, income variable and from many sources ie pub and club scene, rents a property and is a receives top up benifits.

This application is started and awaits responses from various sources.

Application 2 Employed and easy to verify wages regular income and above the threshold, own house
This application you would expect to move through the system far quicker than one.

I don't disagree with you, John, but merely advanced an alternative perfectly logical explanation for these increasing delays. I suggest that there are more than one cause which may include your and my theories as well as others including staff shortages, annual leave and an increase in workload.

I beg to differ on that considering the wait we have been going through! Just to clarify, I am in full time employment and above the threshold, own house etc. Was hoping to bring my better half here for a year or so before we make the move to south east Asia permanent but due to the total incompetency of the immigration service we are bringing that forward now. I have worked here in the UK all my life and when you see your local MP more concerned with the influx and care of refugees coming into the area it leaves a very bad taste in the mouth.

Not sure on which point(s) you 'beg to differ' @Leegrace?

I think it is v bad that your MP has not even bothered to respond to your attempts to make contact and I agree that, given the fees and costs involved at every stage of the Settlement Visa process, we are being ripped off and receiving a very poor standard of service throughout!

Sounds a strong case, provided you presented it fully, backed up by sound evidence.

Maybe it is propping up the leg of a table? Or something akin to that.

I could say, what does it for you?

Did you like my posts of various pictures of visits to some top football stadiums? Given your interest and your good wife’s interest in football I thought you might appreciate them? Loads of Man U related stuff. I actually did the stadium tour twice. Once with my son and once with my Mrs before our little girl was born.

The Nou Camp was the best of course. Loads of Champions League replicas there and several Ballon D’Ors. You been there yet?

To be accurate I eat very little of it. My wife does and the little one. I stay off fried stuff as a rule and have done for a number of years, probably about the last 20 years. So yes, I visit KFC, am very familiar with it :D but try to avoid eating their food. On the other hand my wife tends to like and eat a lot of fried stuff.
