Water from Manila Bay reaches Roxas Boulevard, causing floods on both lanes
Both lanes were not passable to light vehicles as of 9:20 a.m., the Manila Police District said.

Volunteers later picked up garbage by the sea wall.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said heavy rains will continue to pour over parts of the country despite Tropical Storm Karding's exiting before noon on Saturday.

Karding and a tropical depression outside the country both strengthen the southwest monsoon, weather officials said.

Some cities and municipalities in Luzon have suspended classes Saturday due to the monsoon rains.

Lots of rain , but my new ramparts, and digging out of the creek seem to be holding up. Thanks for caring though. :like:

You have to admire Filipinos ' unbreakable spirit .
Something like that happens on her big day , yet gets on with it , and still manages to smile .

I have the utmost respect and admiration for them , unbelievable resilience , to take everything life throws at them .

Exactly. If it happened here you could well imagine the bride in tears complaining that her day had been ruined.

In the Uk she would be in tears and in America they would be blaming the gays... and trying to sue someone.

If I remember correctly that part of Manila Bay is below the level of the sea front.

No Roxas Boulevard is a good few feet above sea level for the whole of the stretch from the Marina and CCP to the US embassy, we used to spend a lot of time on that stretch

This looks like the tide is high but there was about a 10 foot drop over the edge where the kids are in the picture.

I meant below the level of the sea wall not sea level, creating a bowl effect.

It's possible that the road is a bit lower and quite possible that it is a bit lower when you get this far inland (100 metres or so) but I can't say I remember much of a slope, are you counting the whole of the promenade that I marked in yellow on the map as man made sea wall?

We lived at the CCP end (inland a little) for 3 years and I always really liked the walk along the promenade.

It is certainly very vulnerable to high tide and storm surge, a lot of the bay is in danger that way and I really wonder about the stability of all the reclaimed land that constitutes Aseana city (where MoA is now).
