It really does depend which benefits your b/f is receiving.

In principle it makes no impact to a settlement visa application if your b/f can demonstrate that he has sufficient regular funds to support an additional adult consumer in the household, and also that your beingthere with him in UK does not cause increases in any existing benefits. Currently (but will change in April) the amount of disposable income he must have after any mortgage/rent and essential loans is £105.95 per week. If he can show that, then under current rules the chances are good.

Does your b/f work ? and is there adequate accommodation ?

    Thank you Sir.
I hope it will be helpful.
Actually, I really enjoyed putting it all together, and I know there's a lot of improvement and additional info that can be added.

It's a really tough decision, but I do favour a Philippine wedding.

I actually married my wife three times in three different countries. What we do for love eh.

Micawber is correct on the current minimum amount of weekly income (£105.95) that will be needed (after paying mortgage/rent and any necessary loan repayments), but this rises to £111.45 in April 2012. It should be stressed that this minimum amount is only a guideline (resulting from a few court cases); in reality, UKBA may well expect a greater residual income. You and/or your spouse really need to have some savings too, in order to convince the UKBA that you will not need to rely on benefits once you are in the UK. Savings will also be needed to pay for flights and visa.

If you husband-to-be relies only on what are called 'means tested' benefits it is very unlikely he will have the necessary residual income in order to sponsor you. Any savings you may have would help but I assume once you leave Hong Kong that you will have no job, so no income to reach that minimum residual income limit.

The fact that you will be coming to the UK as a married woman may help the situation a little as you will be able to apply for work as soon as your arrive here. But there is no guarantee of work; I don't know if your employers in Hong Kong, offer work in UK?

From April 2012, the minimum residual income required, rises from £105.95 to £111.45.
