You have different circumstances so don't worry about it. Focus on your own. Prepare for the application. Think like it's your one and only shot so give it your all.

Thank you for that Brom27! Definitely I do always seem to overthink and overprepare everything but that’s better than missing anything right? It is just all about preparation definitely.

In my case, it was a easier for me to take my 5 yr old then daughter with me under fiancee visa because she's below 7 y/o (tender years) where the Philippine law states that a child shouldn't be separated from the mother. I submitted a solo parent ID i got from DSWD. A notarized statement of a community social worker backing up your statement that u have the sole responsibility on the child. I enclosed a copy of her ID as well to prove that she's genuine. In my case, i had the day care worker made it for me as she was also my child's teacher then. And lastly, my notarized statement.

Thank you for that! I’ve been here almost 7 years now. We were supposed to get my son 3 years ago with My Dad and everything but he had cancer and then unfortunately died after a year. It just pretty much delayed everything . I thunk if I wasn’t pregnant would be easier to pick him up. Oh well just need to sort it out really and just do it.

    Hello,
I have apply my son settlement visa 2015. All you got to proove is your the one who is supporting him. A school payment any transaction of Support you give to your son. Eg . Western Union or bank order you can include it. Make a written letter explain that you want your family runited. As long as you can proove that the responsibilty to your son your the one who take good care of. Send all the original documents of your bank statement and your scan copy of passport and Biometric Card. Include your Husband details of work its more better if you can add your husband copy of income to proove his support to you and your son as stepfather.

I got my 17 years old daughter visa approved under ILR. In my case, I'm not married to her father but he acknowledges in the birth certificate. So what I did was, we met in a lawyers office, I signed up for the Affidavit of custody and he signed up for Affidavit of consent.
I honestly elaborate to the ECO also that my daughter was meeting up his father once a month but the sole responsibility is mine(with supporting documents).
