I am starting a new fitness plan. Well I say plan but I am doing what I do best in this sort of situation make it up as I go along. I am starting to lower my intake of junk food with the intention of shrinking my sugar intake by a third after my 30th birthday in January. My fitness is no were near where it should be and has dropped considerably since I started doing more lifter work and less yard work.
So far I have started skipping for about 15- minutes a day (when I say that I spend at least half the time hitting the back of my head with the rope).
I will be doing a little light sparring/pad work with a friend of mine at least once a week during my lunch hour hopefully. Does anyone have any recommendations for some good workout ideas I can try at home as I am to body conscious to go to the gym.

I regularly walk the 3+ miles into town here in the Phils (in around 33C normally), no problem at all, plus lots of DIY, carpentry, gardening, etc.

Then there's the twice-nightly workout with the Mrs half my age... if she catches me. I'm 67. Used to go to a gym regularly when I was a young bloke, but don't feel the need for it now (especially as it's mostly a bunch of roided up posers in there these days).

I do a short 25/ 30 min workout 5 days a week at home with a couple of light dumbbells .
    I’m only a shorta..e 5’ 7” and 65 kg but I like to keep a bit fit now I’m retired.

I love to walk , and walk for hours looking around , especially when on holiday .

There are many good workout videos on you tube , for beginners or gym nuts .

my biggest problem is I like my food and I have a real sweet tooth. have gone for a short run and done a bit of skipping again today. Tomorrow I am going to be stuck behind a desk for twelve hours. The joys : ( so I will probally go for another run round the block and I may even do a few sit ups or push ups. I have started eating more fruit. I have kept it going for 4 days so far without getting frustrated so im going to keep making small changes and do a little more each day. After all its not a race

Fair play mate, its not for everyone and im struggling a little as I miss my junk food but It's something I need to do. I'm fed up with feeling tired all the time and I could do with a bit more body confidence. If I see a problem I like to solve it before it gets worse. I love my dad to bits but he is over 20 stone and its affecting his health. I can see myself heading down the same path and I want to change course before it's too late.

5 days: now another run tonight and only one chocolate bar today so i'm heading in the right direction.

Getting your diet right is probably the most important thing , as it affects your health directly, as well as the way you look . There is a well known saying “ you can’t out train a bad diet “ , and it’s true .

Remember each chocolate bar , means you will be doing a run or workout without any benefit . You need to achieve a calorie deficit ,ie burning more than you consume .

You don’t need to do it in a hurry , just start slow and build up . That applies to exercise, and trying to eat healthier. Try to reduce one bad thing from your diet at a time , and gradually increase each exercise time even by five minutes each week .

Take it slow , and don’t give up . You might be surprised how quickly you feel the difference , and that will encourage you to keep it up .

    Sugar is the enemy.

No sweets or chocolate. No soft drinks of any kind. Most contain massive amounts of sugar. No sweet fruit. (Most Brits get most of their vit C from spuds anyway). No sweet biscuits.
Don't become another Type 2 Diabetes statistic later in life.

Then there is alcohol. I wonder why they call it a BEER belly. ;)

went for another run today after work I did my now normal distance and I have to say I'm not missing the junk as much as I thought I would so far I have managed to cut out most of the chocolate I eat and swap it with fruit. I'm lucky in a way as I don't drink so that's one less headache. having a few alcoholic relatives put me off starting. I also had to do some trans shipping today as one of our subbies rolled a loaded reefer. I was quite surprised that I was able too keep a similar pace to the rest of the work gang but after moving 20 tons of frozen meat I was glad to get back to my regular job. I will need to see if melon is good for me. as that is my chocolate substitute.

If you can afford it, go to the gym and hire a personal trainer.

If your budget is limited, then buy dumb bells, a skipping rope, a pull-up bar, a mat, a barbell bar and a bench.

Go to mensfitness.co.uk and read about beginner's fitness guide then start from there.

Go to Youtube, Spotify and play some music whilst training.

Watch your diet as well. Just eat more protein and veggies than junk foods and carbs.

    Easy peasy.
