Congratulations to her , Filipinas always do well in beauty contests .
Things like this make Filipinos very proud , and will be enjoyed and celebrated .

I think my lady is more beautiful though , although I might be biased .

My partner stayed up to 3am in the morning watching this from the UK.

How is it that beauty shows cannot be watched here in UK

Despite my protestations that this is just a pile of old crap, my missus still retains an interest in it and was oddly proud that Miss Philippines won it.

I tried to tell her that she only won it because no other country in the World gives a toss about this rubbish any more, but she proudly disagreed and said it proved that Filipino women are the most pretty in the World.

She was, however, put off a bit because the contestants kept on about 'empowerment of women'. They should just shut up and be pretty, she reckons.

    Filipinos are weird.

My son was delighted and proud too, it is similar to the pride taken in Manny's achievements and who can blame them people like to have reasons to be proud of their country.

Personally I hate this kind of cattle market nonsense, I hated pageants like this even back in the 1970s when one might have expected me as a young man to be into this kind of thing, apart from anything else it is boring.

(Anonymous) moderator please tell me what this is supposed to mean ?

Your post in the thread Miss Universe 2018 was edited. Reason: Removed the indirect reference to Brexit.
    11:38 PM

There was no 'indirect reference' to anything... and though the residents of the UK may be obsessed with it... BREXIT never receives a single second's attention from me, I can assure you !

Did the three members agree with my post before or after you vandalised it ?

If posts are to be interfered with and censored in this pathetic way, then just remove my membership. Thanks.

Rather strange @graham59 , with you on this one.

The removed text "(because of the wailings of a 5% needy minority)" has absolutely nothing to do with our country's great future, it clearly references the idiotic extremes of our overly PC society.

Perhaps the mod misread, I guess???

Thanks... I'd forgotten exactly what I'd written, but knew it wasn't something that 95% of the population would have found remotely offensive. Kind of proves my point I suppose... tail wagging the dog, etc.

    As for BREXIT ?

I have to say, @graham59, that I am not overly surprised by your reaction to the unfair, unnecessary and unwelcome moderation of your post. There have been several rather strange moderating decisions made over the last year or so aimed at those of us whose views are not those of 101% politically-correct sheeple. As far as I can recall you appear not to mention Brexit in any of your posts and certainly not here in this thread.

Anyone with pro-feminist liberal snowflake views should not, in my opinion, be involved with a non-European lady and certainly not with a Filipina for whom beauty pageants are a popular part of the culture. And if you are involved romantically with such a lady, I strongly suggest you 'go with the flow' and show no sign of disapproval. Like Jim, I personally don't like such banale events and don't watch them but I would never, ever utter an adverse comment to those who do. Unfortunately, many of those advocating a ban on such priceless entertainment (I am being sarcastic!) should bear in mind the popularity of such TV shows as Love Island and Celebrity Big Brother - or maybe voyeurism is a given in this topsy-turvy world.

You know, sometimes it would be nice to be able to actually strongly moderate this place but none of us have.

I didn't edit Graham's post, but I also didn't agree with the jibe that only 5% of the country hold feminist views.

Moderators on power-trips is possibly the last thing this place needs. It would simply serve to denude the Forum of those with relevant experience - some of whom hold strong views on particular topics - and thus be a massive disservice to other members.

By the way: I seem to recall that you announced your 'retirement' from the staff earlier this year which coincided with you changing your status to "Not Here". You do not appear on the Staff Roster nor is your profile adorned with an 'Admin', 'Moderator' or any other similar flag and yet you appear to be acting as such. In fairness to all here, might I suggest you act to rectify this situation one way or the other?
