I actually went into china in maybe 1990?I crossed the karakoram highway from Pakistan into xinjiang in chinas far west,i was given an alien travel permit (still have it)which stipulated which parts of china I was allowed to visit,i actually got into Tibet in the back of a truck, china was totally different back then.
I had a three month work visa which ran out so they took my passport to get it renewed. They wouldn't let me have it back until I finished the job. In the end I refused to work even though they stopped me travelling anywhere apart from the hostel and the site. I finally got a week in hong kong, came back, finished the job three months later and they chucked me out within about 24 hours. I finished the job just in time for another contract in africa... strange that
Of all the things I have done, I have never been in a helicopter. They tried to get me on an offshore rig once in the North Sea but I managed to avoid it
I have been in many, many helicopters, but my favourite is a gyrocopter through the mountains I can fly a microlight but its not even in the same league as a gyrocopter for fun.
We used to maintain a TV station on top of a mountain in UAE and helicopter was the only access possible. Must have done literally 100's of flights.
Never used to have a smart-phone,always carried a small point-and-shoot camera, last October I bought a Huawei p20 pro for trekking, just a really nice camera, what do you use for travel pics?
Canon M6. After years of hauling around bulky, heavy SLR's, and finding that because it was so heavy I was tending to not take it and missing shots, I decided to lighten the load so to speak. These mirrorless cameras truly are amazing.
