I thought that if the baby was born after we are married then it would automatically be a British citizen? And then it wouldn't increase the salary requirement? Or do I have this wrong?

If the baby is born after you are married then yes will be able to get British Passport. Easier to do if born in UK and registered in UK as seem to remember reading of various hoops that people had to jump through to get British Passport for their children. If born in UK then would need to register birth at Philippines Embassey to ensure Philippines passport can be got.

Should be possible to get British Passport even if not married although again may be more hoops to jump through.

As British, child does not get counted in salary requirement calculation. Will be included in accomodation requirements calculation.

So reading the above, it seems you need to get your timings right :D, Get married, get pregnant (Not You :D) then get your visa in time to have the baby here, Goodluck ;).

And we all know nothing goes to plan haha, I dont really want my baby to be born in the Philippines if I can help it. But if she gets pregnant in September I will have around 9 months to get her into the UK, so it should be easily enough time? ;-)

Thanks, well I have a two bedroom apartment so that should be fine. I plan to get married in September, but I just hope we can get all the requirements for the marriage because I heard its a bit of a headache to do in the Philippines but we will do all the research and try not leave anything to chance. I would like the baby to have dual nationality so he/she can have best of both worlds ;-)

Dont go planting any seeds till your wife is here with you...and you have paid the IHS surcharge...there was a case on here where a chap bought his fiancee over..she got pregnant and wasnt entitled to nhs healthcare. He got a great big bill for her antenatal care.

Good luck with the baby mate, but I can't think of one single advantage of a child having a Filipino passport, not a very good passport to hold at all

That's about it,look at the population projections of the PI in 20 years time, going to be very overcrowded, the world is changing massively, who knows where the child will want to live.

The east is the future, it will change enormously but population pressure is a major reason that it is the future, what you say is true it will be overcrowded but one way or another they will succeed.

    The future is always open.

I am not saying the population will be rich, I am saying that the population in Asia will be the powerhouse of the world economy rich or not.

If I get married to my gf in the Philippines and I want to apply for a settlement Visa do I need to prove that we have been living together for a period of time?

    No.

You only have to prove that its a genuine relationship, ie Chat logs, pics, etc etc.
