This is from the Guardian so it may or may not be true.
So,is the UK really becoming a member of the third world?

The proportion of children in Britain living in poverty risks hitting a record high in the next few years as incomes stagnate and benefit cuts continue to bite, a report has warned.

A study by the Resolution Foundation thinktank said UK households had experienced flatlining living standards due to a lack of economic and pay growth in the past two years. Average incomes will not rise materially over the next two years either, it said.

The bleak forecast will hit lower-income families harder, according to the report, and child poverty could exceed previous highs reached in the early 1990s. Deprived families will bear the brunt of weak pay and benefit cuts, the report said.

I have spent most of my life working for, or on behalf of the government benefit system in the UK.

What a pity their parents haven't heard of getting off their arses and working for a living.... BEFORE breeding, and sucking even more money out of the working taxpayers. As for 'poverty' ... most in the UK don't know the meaning of the word . ...When your (single) mum can't buy you the latest games console... innit.

Maybe if the parents of these poverty stricken kids gave up smoking and scratchcards then they could afford to eat.

many people with large families are better off on benefits..rent paid by the council--no council tax--child benefits etc. wasnt there an upper limit cap on benefits introduced not so long back ?

There is Bigmac and it combined with in work poverty and rising rents is putting a lot of kids in a hungry/homeless place

Yes... benefits were capped in some cases.

Don't forget also, that a lot of people are cheating the system by working while claiming (and not declaring it).

I think it was from a series of reports and video by a Guardian based anti Brexit reporter re. OP..
Not 100% sure where the original story originated from but just for you I`ll go have another look.. All other research queries in regards the OP, you will need to direct to them.
