Just a quick question 'to clarify'?

You mentioned paying £100 for an OOH appointment at Sopra Steria - was that in addition to a 'Super-priority service' fee, as mentioned at the end of your Copy & Paste email? TIA

Yes it was, we submitted the application on the 30th of May as had to wait for the latest salary going in the bank. My wife's visa runs out on the 25th of June so the 1st available free appointment was on the 24th of June so that was cutting it a bit fine so yes we were forced really to pay the extra £100.00 for what they called an out of hours appointments because it was 9.00am on a Friday. Their working day starts at 10.00am so an appointment on that day at 10.00am would have been free but none were available. Worse than that when we got to the payment page it was not working so we have to spend another 15 minutes on the phone to them at £2.50/minute just to make the payment, grrrr!

Hi Everyone My Wife has just changed her surname and needs a new BRP, so she has to go through the application process like it is a new visa application. It seems that it is exactly the same process, first you make the application on the UK.GOV website, for change of details, then it sends you to the SOPRA website like below, where it tells you what documents you need to provide, and lets you upload them. But the UK.GOV website said we must take originals of some of the documents like passport and current BRP to the Biometrics interview, which by the way is possible at our local central Library. Hope this helps everyone.

How wrong you are, Bigmac is a good guy who tries his best to help people, it's now pinned, we don't always notice requests "in thread" so sometimes it would be a good idea to just ask an admin directly.

How very wrong you are with your assertion I am having a go at @bigmac I was not and never would.
I am aware of the help he has given over many years
Further if you read all my comments in the thread you will note I made reference to a direct thread I made asking admin a few years ago to set up something similar to what's being suggested here so I am aware how to approach admin.
My other views on how you use your position of admin on this forum are a matter for another day and another thread.
    Have a nice day!

Good god, how do you manage to read that as implying that you were having a go at Malcolm? :)

My experience today was slightly different. We also used the super priority service, but at Chelmsford. I was allowed into the room with my wife and we didn't scan any of our documents, instead we let them do it. The whole appointment took about 40 minutes including the biometrics and scanning, so I'm glad I didn't waste the hours it would have taken me to scan and upload all my documents before-hand. We got the same e-mail that you did, about 90 minutes after our appointment ended. All-in-all. it was a very easy process

Hi bigmac, I’d like to ask if the ONLY marriage certificate accepted is the one from NSO/PSA? How about the certified true copy? Thank you.

Is it possible to submit certified true copy of marriage certificate instead of the NSO/PSA marriage cert.? Thanks.

A further update... got the decision Tuesday lunchtime and the new BRP arrived less than 48 hours later. Pretty impressed!

Also, I can confirm that pdfs from online banking for bank statements are now accepted. No longer need to go to your branch and get them to print it and stamp every page

Over the last few weeks I have helped 2 of my wife's sisters and our niece to get a UK visitors visa. In fact I took on board to do the first application entirely, obviously with my Sis in law's information and documents. The initial input on the UK Gov web pages was relatively straight forward once the information was gathered. But then going into VFS Global's web site it became hard going, not only due to their web site freezing regularly or just being unobtainable but the navigation whenever I took a break and later tried to get back in. It comes up with "Oops something has gone wrong" and you have to log out and try again......many times. After completing my Sis in law's application on VFS I then got a cry for help from my niece so wrote up the process for her, which I have copied here for the benefit of fellow members.
Yes you can scan your own documents and upload before your appointment with VFS. Just take the originals for them to check in the office. In fact the scanning service and the various "upgrade" services they offer are a total rip off in my opinion, way too expensive. Whoever thought of the idea to create a company to handle visa applications on behalf of many countries is on to a bloody good thing. So the following details the way we did the doc uploading for visitor visa's. I have no experience of other types of visa. Incidentally they all have their visas now and we fly to the UK on July 15th for 12 days.
    Navigating through VFS Global
This is how I travelled from Log In through to Appointments.

Use this link, which VFS sent me after one of my "please help" emails to them: https://myappointment.vfsglobal.co.uk/MyAppointment/

Screen 1 Enter email and password
Screen 2 Do not enter anything but just click "My Account" at the top right
Screen 3 Enter detail and Submit
Screen 4 Select the option Track Pending Application
Screen 5 Just scroll down to Save & Continue
Screen 6 Scroll through and check that they all say "Add" If the Document Screening Service says "Remove" - select it and it will go to Add. Then " I do not wish to purchase......." and Continue
Screen 7 select " I do not wish to purchase......." and Continue
Screen 8 Follow the on screen instructions for upload. I found it easier to make myself a list of the documents and allocate the category on a scrap of paper first and then tick them off as I uploaded. Only 2 categories used for Tita, Finance and Others. I added her Passport into Others as I could not see anywhere else to put it. It says you can upload up to 5 documents at once if they are in the same category. I tried it but it didn't work (Oops Something has gone wrong.....) so I did them 1 at a time.
Select "I have previewed..... " and Save for each upload of a single document or each group if you manage to do more than 1 in a single upload.
Don't forget you have to tick the appropriate boxes on your Document Checklist (but don''t sign it yet) and upload that one too.
When complete select "Continue" and you are through to stage 9.
    Screen 9 Appointments.

And that's all there is to it. "Simple Quick and Easy" the VFS site says, ha ha.

I just submitted our setttlement visa application today, everything went on smoothly as I have already arranged the documents with the barcode separators the night before. There's no need for submitting photocopies of original documents now, They just scan your original documents then hand it back to u once it's done. The only thing that shocked me though is the scanning fee which is P4,335 per applicant when it's only P670 on their website.

    Hi Everyone,

I read somewhere that the file size limit was 20mb for upload however on the first page of this thread the screenshot says 6mb.

I have made a 16mb PDF with our chat log history for 2 years lol. Will this be ok?

Also should i put our photos into a PDF too?

Im just getting everything together before submitting
