Stumbled across this exhibition whilst in Liverpool earlier. For me, an amazing experience. #YouAreHere Thanks Yoko
As a Liverpudlian who lived in the USA for many years, I wish he wore a Liverpool Tee shirt instead of a Tee shirt of the country that kept on trying to kick him out
Don't forget he was treated very poorly by the British media after dropping Cynthia for Yoko. NYC was a creative place for him and he seemingly enjoyed the freedom it gave him in comparison to the UK which, obviously and ultimately, led to his untimely death. After coming away from the exhibition I was initially happy to see the items Yoko had provided to the museum in order to put the event on the map but I had a bit of a niggling feeling it was equally about her and I wish it wasn't. After coming away I wanted to know a bit more about May Pang and his personal life. The following article was news to me. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...-mistress-John-Lennon-covered-took-lover.html
Glad you liked it I was there last thursday, would love the guitar that was on display, also brought back memories walking round the rest of the museum and how the city has changed over the years.
Yes a really nice atmosphere round the docks especially when the sun is out. I think the investment in and around Liverpool one worked out really well for the city. Pity they stopped the giant puppets it really brought big crowds in.
I took Mrs R to Liverpool this past Sunday. She fancies the look of the new Yesterday movie, but knows nothing about The Beatles. Probably like all these Shakespeare phrases we all use without being aware of their origin, but she is always surprised at the songs she knows which happen to come from the North West. Was stunned that last minute train tickets were just £7 from Manchester, so it had to be done. I've only been to Liverpool on a handful of occasions, each time to Goodison Park. That area looked like any working class district in Manchester. We did one of The Beatles tours and, oh boy, they didn't half come from middle class backgrounds. I suppose it was for the benefit of the American and Japanese tourists that the tour focused on the well developed areas, but that well-to-do area of Liverpool is very nice indeed. Definitely a city on the rise. I've taken her to enough museums recently, so I didn't inflict another Beatles museum or the Tate upon the poor girl. Stuck to the cathedral, bus tour, big wheel and a few soft drinks in the Cavern. Nice day out.
Saw the giant puppets the last time they were here awesome, like a carnival atmosphere. With continued investment in and around Liverpool One and the Docks area,The city will grow and grow. I consider myself lucky to be back home.
Sounds like a nice day and yes plenty to do around other parts of the city. I not a member of National Trust this year but always meant to make use of the JL home tour. Next time na Lang.
When the giants was here in Liverpool 2018 that was the last time they will be paraded anywhere in the world, you can now go to the top of the liver building and the cathedral and do the 360 degree tour definitely worth the view on a clear day see as far as Blackpool and the snowdonia mountains
For me the view in the Museum from the plate glass window looking towards the Liver building and beyond up the Mersey is brilliant
