 My relatives north of the border were driven back and a wall built to keep us out of England,we used to paint our faces blue to scare the Italians :( Can we get reparation for historic crimes from the EU?What a crock of absolute crap  how far back do historic crimes go?Biggest slavers were the arabs and africans themselves  in fact slavery is alive and well and flourishing in the dark continent ;)

Yup,the sins of the father is a ridiculous concept, inherited guilt is a lefty limp-wristed appeasement,my old man broke joe smiths window as a kid and ran off, shall I phone a glazier now after a 60 year gap and ask them to go round and fix it?

Absolutely but that's an inconvenient detail for some hand-wringing lefty overpaid academics.

I wonder how long it will be before someone accuses you of Islamophobia

The ashanti and the Yoruba were the biggest slave traders in west-Africa,not john smith from Darlington,i suggest all slave descendants in the UK head off to Nigeria and see how much "reparation" they are given  they will be lucky to return to the UK with the shirt still on their backs ;) Zanzibar was the biggest slave port in east-Africa,the arab traders there actually got a treaty signed up which made the sale of slaves to Christians illegal,i did a slave-tour when I was there which took you to the holding cells etc, reparation  its part of mans history, nothing personal, everyones past has some grim periods but its history.....his-story.

The University calculated that in todays terms they recieved £200 million pounds in donations from those who had made their money from slavery and have initially started a fund of £20million to help fund deprived edjucation institutions in the West Indies where the profits came from but where not invested.

Profits certainly were invested locally but I agree that not all profits were invested there. Maybe they should instead "fund deprived edjucation institutions in " townships far closer to their hallowed halls so that the citizenry don't mispell "education".

I was in many West African countries and no-one there likes to talk about the part Africans played in the slave trade.
I suppose it was purely down to economics and the fact that anyone will do anything to make money.

Yup,some people conveniently forget and blame the white geezer  Lots of cruelty involved in the African slave trade perpetrated by the africans,it still goes on,but its black-on-black so swept under the carpet ;)

One of the most prevalent problems in West Africa is the nepotism of one tribe against the other(s). Certain tribes made their money because of this.
Africans can look back at the terrible Belgian King Leopold II for many of their problems though.
