They have enough data on you before you are stopped via plate check.
Anyway..If you have not committed an offence, what more do they need to know?

Round here the police stop people just to be nosy. They want to know who you are, who your wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend is, where you work, do you know Dafydd from Llandewi, etc, etc.

I've been stopped by local police for:

    1. Looking for a stolen car
    2. Your car was registered in Carmarthen, what are you doing round here

Tempting to say on a stop, no its not my car, I stole it from Gwillam's house, I've had 20 pints of Special Brew and 3 lines of self raising flour, and I'm gonna flatten you all. Somehow you know it wont end well, and a visit to the local courthouse will be in order. The police don't do humour, they get very uppity.

If you watch the video you can hear the guy asking very clearly,"what laws did I break?
    The answer was "none".
My question would have then been, "So WTF are you standing outside my door for then"?
Actually,it would have just been better to just say "Sorry,i`m busy ..Bye" and close the door.

I find this stuff scary..Freedom of speech is on the way out just a little bit at a time.

pretty sure that if a Facebook fight had been picked up and a conversation from the police like the one above may of prevented senseless knifings and fights.

Jumped out of the truck on a Motorway Service exit road before last Xmas for a quick pee and a boy in blue pulled over and admonished me.
I had to sit in the Range Rover with Cameras pointed at me.
I didn't say anything and got back to the truck asap.
Was fined. It is often about money.

They has never been any laws for protecting freedom of speach with out caveats

Under Article 10 of the Human Rights Act 1998, “everyone has the right to freedom of expression” in the UK. But the law states that this freedom “may be subject to formalities, conditions, restrictions or penalties as are prescribed by law and are necessary in a democratic society”.

Freedom of expression would not get anyone very far sitting in a police car.
If anyone feels they can talk their heads off in such a position, carry on and see where that gets them.

More grief and more problems would be my response in the predicament I was in.
If someone is questioned by the boys in blue and they had many witnesses with them, they would stand a better chance of expressing their viewpoint.

My nephew is a bit of a lad,or used to be before he met his fiancé in the Philippines,I once went to the station when he was arrested for fighting and needed a responsible adult (yeah,me :D ).I sat in on his interview, afterwards I asked to read it and straight away I spotted the first discrepancy "He never said that" I told the officer "Replay the tape and listen" they didn't like that :D police distort the truth to their own ends ;)
