Hi guys! Thank you so much for all the information shared in this forum. It was helpful during our UK proposed civil partner visa application and we were comforted by the fact that all of us went through this, some may even have worse experience than us. Our UK civil partner visa has been granted in just 14-15 working days.

    Timeline
Type of Visa: Proposed Civil partner Visa (Priority)
    Date of Application: January 31,2020

Date of Biometrics and Submission of supporting docs: February 5,2020

Text from VFS that app being forwared to UKVI:
    February 5,2020

Email form UKVI Sheffield that app is being prepared by ECO for consideration:
    February 7,2020

Email received that processed visa application has been received at VAC: February 26,2020

    Passport delivery: February 27, 2020

Total number of working days: 14-15 days from Biometrics

I got no text or email that a decision has been made. This got me anxious.

Our case was very straightforward. Please if you have any questions with your app, i will be more than happy to help. God bless us all! And good luck with your application

We're changing our plans due to the Covid situation, but maybe it doesn't change the answer to this question.

If we apply for a Fiancee visa, and it's granted, how long do we have for her to enter the UK? She lives and works in Singapore, and has to give 3 months notice to her employer. Anyone else been in a similar position? She's too honest and proper to just leave ;)

The Fiancee visa is valid for 6 months, she will have to be in the UK and married with that period. In the application form you will be asked about the planned travel date. I’ve put mine about 4 months from the date I lodged my application, factoring in the time I need to hand my notice in at work.

Hi, Im applying for a Fiance Visa for my girlfriend who I hope to take here to the UK in the summer. I have two children with her who will also be coming to the UK (they are 2 and 3 years old). Do the children need separate Visa applications or can they be included in the fiancé visa? If I do need to apply separately for the children, what type of Visa should I be applying for?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Assume that you are British and born in UK in which case should be looking to get British passports for them.

Depends on what your plan is.

Need some form of visa or passport to get children into UK. British passport is the easiest option to get them in although has challenge with getting the passport. Passport cost is lowest way forward.

If have only got Philippines passport then have challenge of getting them in as will require either right of abode sticker (expensive compared to passport but less than settlement visa cost) in passport or a visa of some sort.

If mother is going down fiance visa route not sure on options for kids as may need to get similar visa for kids at similar cost. Didn't go down that route so can't say for sure. If have to have similar visa then cost will be a lot. Not sure would get visit visa for kids in that scenario.

If doing marriage visit visa then could get visit visas for everyone and maybe wrap up passports while in UK if stay long enough but wife would have to go back to Philippines to apply for settlement visa and not sure how you fare if kids British passport not sorted during visit. We managed marriage visit visa and got visit visa for two stepchildren at the time so definitely possible.

So this is a UK lawyer VISA immigration company that will help me apply for the fiancé visa. Obviously this will come at a cost. Is it advisable to get them involved or is it potentially a waste of money. I have two children that will also need visa's so it makes it all a bit more difficult and perhaps I would be better using this service. Is it recommendable to use a service such as this?

A few deeper questions without being intrusive to you.
You say you have children are they yours?
How complicated do you think the application will be? Are there a lot of issues you know to.
If the children aren't yours is their biological father still around and named on birth certificates?
Is a lawyer needed depends on the complexity of the applications.
You have a number of options open to you yo progress.
    1. Fiancee visa
    2. Spouse visa you go over there to marry her then apply
    3. Marriage visit visa
All have good and bad points all have varying start costs and on going.
The children unless they can progress a British Passport because they are yours will need dependent visas

Yes the children are mine. I see on the Gov.UK site the charge is £1523 for my girlfriends visa and another £1523 per dependent so thats £4500 altogether. That is incredibly expensive. If my kids can get UK passports (i see there is a page on GOV.UK to apply for that outside the UK) the they will not need any type of visa right and will be free of any charge.

Yes I would target getting the passports first. Good Luck

There is also the IHS charge on top.

Links below will hopefully be useful. Second one is from a while ago but seem to remember people needing these documents when getting passport for their kids. Hopefully some others with experience in getting passports will join the conversation or may want to start new thread asking for help with getting passports.

True but after marriage have the spouse visa application fee and IHS which you are correct is only due at that point. Just wanted to make sure he was aware of that additional charge so not a surprise.
