The odd thing is that contrary to what is generally believed the overweight have a higher metabolic rate than average but it doesn't help.

I have switched back again recently to steamed veg, new potatoes, cauliflower, carrots or broccoli, with steamed chicken done with light seasoning with black pepper and some rock salt.

Apart from just being incredibly easy to make in a steamer it tastes really good and reduces my appetite dramatically, the goal is to reduce the high glycaemic foods.

I've done this before and managed to reach a far better weight, the problem is that my weight tends to be tied to my overall state of mind.

The steamed foods are about four days of the week, I love Asian food and I love a lot of Filipino food, more than happy to eat rice regularly but something in the climate does help us reduce our weight, if it isn't the overall balance then I am not sure what it is :)

At the end of the day, while the body will process food differently depending on the sugar content and type of sugars (starch and how easy it is to convert) and when you eat, ultimately you can't beat the law of conservation of energy, food = energy, our movement (exercise ) = energy, eat more than you burn and you get bigger, eat less than you burn and you get smaller.

I see some interesting posts here. The opening post coincides with more modern thinking on fat, cholesterol and salt.

I eat tons of good fat these days. I am losing weight. And my cholesterol levels are good.

And I eat loads of eggs and use plenty of salt.

I'm probably one of the lucky ones who can lose weight very easily - sometimes a whole stone in 3 weeks if I really tried.

A few years ago, I lost a stone and a half without even trying - from 10 to 8.7 stone. How or why it happened is a mystery.

No. I hardly fart at all now since reducing carbs.
    Bad breath happens with Keto.

Good question I used to fart a lot before changing my diet @bigmac - it was actually a symptom though I didn’t know it at the time.

That was me at 21. At my age now my pancreas works poorly and losing weight is much harder.

I have just halved my medication for blood pressure by reducing my body weight and blood sugar levels. My aim is to avoid medicine by bringing my blood pressure to within a more normal range. My GP has endorsed this approach.

Love him or loath him this post of Bootsontheground is spot on.

We will hear sometime soon when Dr Aseem Malhotra’s next book is released however today Dr Paul Mason explains further...

I just had my lipids tested and the results couldn’t be any better, despite eating a lot of healthy saturated fat these days.

“10 years of my own research and investigation combined with my clinical experience with patients has gone into producing my best and most important piece of work to date. Delighted to share that my latest book, A Statin Free Life is now available for pre-order. Released on August 19th it covers the real root causes of heart disease, saturated fat misinformation, a better understanding of cholesterol and why lowering it may be a very bad idea, the statin scam, what to do about side effects, familial hyperlipidaemia, coronary calcium scores, and a better way to prevent and potentially reverse heart disease. The book is about ethical, evidence based medical practice and is written to educate and empower patients, members of the public, doctors and cardiologists. There’s also some great recipes put together including mediterranean food from one of southern Italy’s best chefs, and ones of my own. You can order your copy here and thank YOU for all your support in this ongoing movement towards better mental and physical health for all! “

“A Book The Food And Pharmaceutical Industries Will Hate
10 years of my own research and investigation combined with my clinical experience with patients has gone into producing my best and most important piece of work to date.

Despite many obstacles in that journey of getting the truth out to the masses including ongoing and persistent attempts from various quarters to destroy my career, (more on that in my next blog) I’m delighted to share that my latest book, A Statin Free Life is now available for pre-order.

Released on August 19th it covers the real root causes of heart disease, saturated fat misinformation, a better understanding of cholesterol and why lowering it may be a very bad idea, the statin scam, what to do about side effects, familial hyperlipidaemia, heart stents, coronary calcium scores, and a better way to prevent and potentially reverse heart disease through specific lifestyle changes.

The book emphasises ethical, evidence based medical practice and is written to educate and empower patients, members of the public, doctors and cardiologists.

It’s undergone extensive peer review from independent medical experts in the field with descriptions such as “game changing”, “excellent” and “flawlessly written” but perhaps more importantly I’ve had very encouraging feedback from respected non-expert lay people too.

Author, TV Presenter and entrepreneur Liz Earle MBE wrote “A thought provoking and engaging book, backed by science for an enlightening read. Packed with detail and references, this is a riveting read for anyone with a heart. The pharmaceutical and food industries will hate it.”

There’s also some great recipes put together including Mediterranean food from one of southern Italy’s best chefs, and ones of my own.

You can order your copy here and thank YOU for all your support in this ongoing movement towards better mental and physical health for all!”

Why take Statins when we can change what we eat instead?
