Hi Everybody, This site is brilliant, loads of information and helpful people. After reading through countless pages of peoples experiences I have reached decision time, or not, in my case.

My situation is that I meet the financial requirements (earning £29k py), have my own house, but here's my weak point, I have only known my fiancée since May 2019. We have been in communication nearly every day and I have been to see her for two weeks in the Philippines and have met family. We have numerous photo's and chat information.

My question is do I have a strong enough case for a fiancée visa.

    You meet the FR, etc.

The only requirement as far as the 'relationship' is concerned (unless it has changed?) is that you must have met physically at least once (tick). Sounds like you have as good a case as many on here. Good luck.

    Hi UKDJ,

Thank you for your comment. Very encouraging.

I was thinking that if it was too weak I would get a visitor visa for her, but proving that she will return home could be weak there.

In my experience, Tourist/Visitor Visas are MUCH more difficult to secure (perverse and bizarre!) - perhaps because they are far less lucrative for the government

Yes I totally agree. The whole process can be a strain on the finances, even more so if you employ legal assistance.

Why don't you go and visit her again for a few days. Just a thought.

Yeh. That is in my mind to, but it costs more to kennel my dog here than my hotel out there would you believe and I have to provide his food. So it's not exactly full board.

With the help of this community, unless the situation is complicated - perhaps by children/previous marriage - outside costly help should not be necessary.

There are no complications such as children/previous marriage involved. So as you say with the help of this community costly help should be unnecessary.

Pretty much all said, the advantage of a fiancee visa is you could live together over here for just short of 6 months and marry near the very end of the visa, if during the 5 to 6 months it doesn't work out ( as you've only really met under holiday atmosphere) prior to marriage then she returns home and no ties!
You meet the financial and accomadation side and you've met, you have plenty of communication evidence.
    Good luck

Thank you for your positive comments and wishes. The whole process looks quite stressful and daunting to those who embark new to this experience. I need to write a BIG to-do list and make a start.

    Welcome by the way!
I think you have 2 choices here.
1.Go back out for another visit get to know the lady a bit more, her background the culture and the family treat it as another holiday but also a reassurance that this is what you want.
2.Second choice is go for the fiancee visa and have the 5 to 6 months to see how you get along get married if it goes well and apply for leave to remain just prior to 6 months visa running out. Don't forget her coming here will be a culture shock!
There are positives and negatives to which ever path you take but you need yo ensure there are no skeletons in her cupboard nor that you are just a stepping stone for her to the UK. I know it sounds harsh but it happens and only you can decide!
The process I believe is fairly straightforward once your used to the generic design of the application process and you just practice on the system in completing the forms and gathering the required info.
There are on the form 2 questions you might want to give some thought to.

1 when did you first meet?
    2. When did you last see each other?

The point I make about the 2 questions is, the consideration the UKBA will give to the answers!
