While I detest and abhor cruelty, despotism and violence in general, I am afraid I do not concur with the EU on these sanctions, that may cause further hardship on the innocent.
    The EU meddled in Ukraine
    And look what happened..........
Now trying to dictate to Du terte on how to run his country...

And that is going a tad too far...........

At the end of the day, the Filipinos voted for him for what he told them he would do........
If they don't like it anymore, they can vote him out...........

Can they vote him out? He is entrenched in a country where a hundred peso can buy a vote, he isn't going anywhere for a while, he has already said he doesn't want to leave his office unless he is handing the reigns to someone he trusts and is touting his daughter Sara as his successor, you know how the pinoys love a political dynasty.

The question is, is there anyone who maybe can do better? Filipinos think not.

The EU should get their own house in order, instead of bulling developing countries. Duterte has done a very good job and most Filipinos love him. Hope he gets another term.

He can't unless they suspend the constitution.

    He's got 2 years left.

One of his original presidential pledges was to finish the war on drugs in 3-6 months, it's still ongoing.

I have family in the pinoy DEA, loads of low level tricycle drivers shot, smoke and mirror destractions, , few bigger fish caught, maybe to appease the masses, but supply and demand hasn't really been affected.

Sadly at present supply and demand and suppliers won't dry up, but at some point through education, a better economic landscape and a generation to come through wanting a life to the full then and only then will progress be made.
God willing it will be sooner rather than later.

The whole misguided 'War on drugs' started in 1971 with Richard Nixon, decades later has anyone declared victory?

The so called war on drugs has long since been lost, increased supply and demand worldwide. Even the sinaloa cartel have taken a seat at the table in the PI and they are serious players in the game, what better place to offer their usual plata o plomo than in the corrupt PI where the majority of officials would take the plata.

Slightly off topic, people complain about DU30,s war on drugs, why not try looking closer to home, but most people tend to ignore the fact that we have a drug problem here in the UK no we dont kill people like DU30 we just mostly ignore the issue, meanwhile people get rich by supplying and lives get ruined by the addiction and what comes with it.. anyways right now the world has a potentially bigger problem right now Covid 19..

Covid is nowhere near the issues of drug abuse.

I do agree that in the UK there seems an apparent lack of urgency tackling the drugs issues.

For the foreseeable future to be honest, South American cartels and Chinese triads could not possibly operate in the PI moving precursors and chemist's in without top-level governmental co-operation somewhere along the line.
Alcohol and cigarettes, most harmful drugs to society, yet you can buy them in any supermarket legally.
