I am amazed by the stroke of luck Chelsea had in selling Eden "sick note" Hazard for over 100 million quid to real Madrid.

So far, since joining them, he only played 25 times, all the rest on the sidelines suffering with one injury or other.
Zidane is at the end of his tether, as he cannot sell him, because it seems no one wants him, and definitively Chelsea ain't going for that lame duck.
He was good for us, while it lasted, that I have to admit, but he wanted to leave for money and glory.
Now he has sweet F. A.......

When obscene amounts of money is paid for a footballer, there is such a fine line which separates a £100m player from a £50m player and then a £20m player.

I sarcastically mentioned Lingard a while ago in a list of football's current elites which include Messi, Ronaldo and Mbappe. On current form, Lingard deserves to be in that category.

When you look at a list of the most expensive football transfers, it is full of flops or players who were adequate. All clubs essentially take a roll of the dice when they pay these fees and have their fingers crossed that 75% of these players will be successful.

Neymar € 222 Barcelona Paris Saint-Germain Fine, but Mickey Mouse league
Kylian Mbappé € 180 Monaco Paris Saint-Germain Looks good, but again Mickey Mouse league
Philippe Coutinho € 145 Liverpool Barcelona Overpaid. Looks to be the same level when he was at L'pool. Not sure what Barca were expecting.
João Félix € 126 Benfica Atlético Madrid Too soon to tell. Wouldn't surprise me if he is eventually sold for more than Neymar
Antoine Griezmann € 120 Atlético Madrid Barcelona Same as Coutinho. Performing at same level as ever. Overpaid.
Ousmane Dembélé € 105 Borussia Dortmund Barcelona Flop
Paul Pogba € 105 Juventus Manchester United Adequate
Eden Hazard € 100 Chelsea Real Madrid Flop. Was obvious that Madrid missed his prime years
Cristiano Ronaldo € 100 Real Madrid Juventus Fee based upon reputation and marketing. As good as he is, he has not been €100m good.
Gareth Bale € 100 Tottenham Hotspur Real Madrid Success based on first 4 or 5 seasons. Not Bale's fault that Madrid gave him a new crazy contract
Cristiano Ronaldo € 94 Manchester United Real Madrid Success
Gonzalo Higuaín € 90 Napoli Juventus based on transfer value, flop
Harry Maguire € 87 Leicester City Manchester United based on transfer value, flop
Romelu Lukaku € 85 Everton Manchester United based on transfer value, flop
Virgil van Dijk € 84.50 Southampton Liverpool good
Luis Suárez € 82.30 Liverpool Barcelona success
Romelu Lukaku € 80 Manchester United Internazionale good
Nicolas Pépé € 80 Lille Arsenal flop
Kepa Arrizabalaga € 80 Athletic Bilbao Chelsea flop
Lucas Hernandez € 80 Atlético Madrid Bayern Munich flop
Kai Havertz € 77 Bayer Leverkusen Chelsea early days, looking like a flop
Zinedine Zidane € 76 Juventus Real Madrid success
Ángel Di María € 75.60 Real Madrid Manchester United flop
Matthijs de Ligt € 75 Ajax Juventus fine
Frenkie de Jong € 75 Ajax Barcelona fine
James Rodríguez € 75 Monaco Real Madrid flop
Kevin De Bruyne € 75 VfL Wolfsburg Manchester City success
Arthur € 72 Barcelona Juventus probably overpaid
Victor Osimhen € 70 Lille Napoli I don't know if this person is real or fake
Rodri € 70 Atlético Madrid Manchester City Overpaid
