Offers to let nurses work  the individuals are desperate to get out  I know quite a few health care professionals in the PI, not one, not one single one of them chose their degrees to stay and work in the Philippines, all chose their degrees as an escape route OUT :)

My wife was talking about this a while back and was not impressed. The way she described it was that they are saying "give us vaccines or you don't get our nurses".

It's a myopic stance for a 3'rd world government to take, the Philippines relies on remittances, at the moment they have approx 500,000 nurses and have capped the number leaving at 5000 a year, but it's not difficult to recruit nurses from other countries in Africa, or India etc. Wasn't duterte supposed to be getting vaccines from his mates in China? And what of his pledge a few years back to end migrant workers from the Philippines by creating jobs in-country? Oh, that's right, nursing jobs in-country where your paid an extra 50 peso a month, not day, not week, but month for working in a covid ward.

The thing that gets me is that they treat their own people like property which they can use for barter.

    Yes.
This is completely at odds with the general level of respect over there, as most people are very respectful towards each other.
"Thank you, Miss" and "Good morning, Sir".
It seems that respect stops when the government gets involved.

One of the Philippines currencies is people, numbers are just a business, I spoke to a filipina nurse about it earlier, she said it was embarrassing like they are commodities to be bartered.

Er indoors checked on some of her relatives today, reviewing online, passed their degrees already, all with the dream of moving to Australia or Canada. IMG-94a2172d6b0e3f483724eba1776c7ec6-V.jpg

I just chatted to a nurse who is reviewing online currently, she described the nurses4vaccine offer as degrading, and allowing only 5000 nurses into the outside world per year as keeping her and her batch mates as "Prisonurse".

I have just spoken to one of Er indoors nieces, started her first step to Canada, she is a fully qualified nurse but to circumvent the Philippines 5000 nurses only a year release policy she is paying a student/agency fee with show money to get to Canada as a student and she will take it from there.
