I had the pleasure of doing a street lining for the queen and the duke of Edinburgh. One of my proudest moments.

From the outside, he seemed like a good, witty sport.
I don't much like any of the Royal Family but he did appear to have a "spark".

I just hope that the Californian branch doesn't turn up. It may be counterproductive to their extreme privacy drive

Sad day I had hoped he would see his hundredth birthday but was expecting this after seeing those terribly frail pictures of him last month.

While many see them as privileged I have always felt slightly sorry for the royal family as they are prisoners of the job, they don't really have freedom.

Rest in Peace Prince Philip and my condolences to Queen Elizabeth.

I wonder if the Queen will now retire and let Charles have his turn ?

Prince Philip cracks Filipino nurse joke...

“The Duke of Edinburgh has joked about the number of Filipinos working in the NHS - telling a nurse her country must now be "half-empty". The 91-year-old, who is famed for his off-the-cuff remarks, made the hospital worker from the Philippines laugh with his comment during a visit to open a £5.5 million cardiac centre. He can be heard telling the unnamed nurse at Luton and Dunstable Hospital: "The Philippines must be half-empty - you're all here running the NHS." Describing himself as being in a "jovial" mood, he also joked he was the "world's most experienced curtain puller" and asked when the hospital would be getting a helipad to save him by the journey by car. “

I was thinking this also, bigmac.
She will be understandably very sad and she is not getting any younger.

I thought about this also but a declaration made on her 21st birthday just before she became queen:-"

I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong," she said.

makes me think she wont as she may see it as going back on her word!

I think as we have already seen the younger royals will take a bigger share of the burden of public duties
