Long story short philippine nurses are working in hospitals during the pandemic for 10,000 peso a month, the PHA (PHILIPPINE HEALTH AUTHORITY?) thinks this amount will encourage non working nurses to return to hospitals, I am actually speaking to one of Er indoors nieces at the moment, she is working nights in a cebu hospital, she is studying her NCLEX which leads to her USRN, the brain drain continues.

Is this monthly salary very good these days?
(I haven't been back there for some years.)

Hobsons choice mate, but there's lots of nurses leaving health care and seeking employment elsewhere, call-centres etc, they are woefully undervalued in the PI, treated like tradeable bargaining chips (nurses for vaccines).

I suppose PHP 10,000 is not a good salary for nurses then.
I am asking because nurses do very important jobs.
I know nurses have been leaving there for overseas work but I didn't know they leave their nursing work for other types of work over there.

2 in every 5 filipina nurses leave the Philippines for work abroad, more want and try to, 10,000 peso a month in the Philippines or 3-8,000 dollars a month in America (with a fantastic quality of life, and a good passport) what would anyone with a young family choose :like:

I lived in the USA for many years and I wouldn't say it has a fantastic quality of life.
I was glad to get out.

If you work hard it's heaven compared to the squalor of a typical filipino city :)

My brother-in-law is a nurse, he was getting P12,000 then he moved to a private hospital he now gets P10,000, and he's doing more advanced nursing.

Peanuts for the job they do, I know an ex-nurse working in a call centre on 30,000 peso. Your brother-in-law should get out, very good money and he will be valued stateside.

Why is he getting paid less for doing more advanced nursing, Jim?

His gf is a student doctor, she's been studying for years. I said to them start your own business, open up a small clinic. I'v seen loads in Dumaguete, maybe they could get a grant from the government!

I actually know a filipina doctor in Canada who qualified as a nurse to get out of the PI, I didn't ask the details but that's how she got to Canada.
