The Philippines will open to fully vaccinated international tourists soon - Scandasia This is basically the same AFP article that I linked to the other day. Answer, no not yet open to tourists but hopeful that it will happen soon however for the UK it is going to depend on whether we are considered to be on their 'green' list, basically is the UK somewhere with a low infection rate, personally I think our infection rate is very high right now but who knows what the Philippine authorities will think, we do have high vaccination rates but we still have a ton of Covid cases here. Spouses can get in if you jump through some hoops you will need a visa from the London PH Embassy and you will probably have to quarantine at destination until things change along the above lines.

Cheers mate, We've been together for 8 years and have never been away from each other for this long. Our bond has been tested. We've both been highly frustrated with not being able to see each other and not knowing when this **** is going to end. Petty little arguments etc. We were supposed to get married in August 2020 but obviously that couldn't happen. Both feeling optimistic now though. New passport arrived today, My work has approved a 3 month sabbatical for February, I really hope its possible.
Sadly it seems we are back to square one ...unless I’m mistaken ..maybe March will bring the breakthrough - relationships that last during this are no doubt the real deal.
Not necessarily, it will depend on the interpretation the Philippine Department of Health places on the spread of Omicron in other countries, it's in the Philippines already in 8 weeks they will know its impact on their own healthcare system maybe even 6 weeks from now. This thing is so transmissible that none of us are going to escape it, we are all going to get this it is simple as that, many will show no symptoms at all it's still about a third of all cases that are asymptomatic, but we have still to see how dangerous this is to the vaccinated older generations. If it rips through the Phils and explodes as it is everywhere else then there is no point in maintaining the inbound travel bans, they might not see it that way but once you have lost control of transmission honestly what's the point in any kind of inbound travel ban, such bans are only really useful to slow down and spread out the risk to your health service, they work with a moderately contagious virus, they struggled against Delta but Omicron will defeat any ban. We don't know yet with absolute certainty how bad Omicron is on unvaccinated individuals who have also never encountered and fought off and infection with a prior variant, but if it turns out to be a good bit milder in those people then the pandemic really is over, we will all be catching a new version of Covid every year, some years it will be worse than others, it's going to shorten life expectancy for all of us as our immune systems weaken as we age. Or we could get really lucky some weird sh*t happened with Delta in Japan where it went from being huge to almost nothing in the couple of months after the Olympics, Omicron could mutate itself into extinction the original SARS did this nearly 20 years ago, let's hope.
Thank you for that extensive reply Superb The clock is ticking for all of us - I’m Living off great memories like everyone else. if you were to take a punt though - do you think the country will open up anytime in 2022 ?
I think it might open by April but there is a chance that it won't until after the election and they get a new President, I think that their next administration will reopen, had it not been for Omicron it would probably have opened in January, just a gut feeling I have no real evidence but going on some of the events and reports that were coming in just before Omicron I think they might have returned to normal Mid January early Feb. If they lose control over Omicron, which they will, then logic would say it's time to stop crippling their economy but when has logic ever played a huge part in Philippine politics.
Told you they would eventually see sense this is a bit earlier then I expected but very welcome news. Sadly flights are not readily available at reasonable prices.
what does that mean for a fully vaccinated thicko like me in UK - I’ve lost track of it all lol can I go for 30 days with no hassle now ? how much r tickets ? etc cheers ! J
Probably a full return to normal rules but we will have to wait to see that officially published, to see official reinstatement of the 30 day visa waiver. My preferred carriers are too expensive just now, KLM and Emirates, Singapore has some not bad deals but it's around £1500 or more then you have to add on the cost of the PCR test on the way out.
Here's a few skyscanner results, the Emirates one is too complex a route for me I prefer to be on a single carrier for all hops outbound and inbound.
