Now this is pretty sad.. I used to read both The Beano and The Dandy back when I was young, The Beano was my favourite but The Dandy was also one of the comics I used to read as often as possible. And now DC Thomson are to stop printing The Dandy:(

I guess with falling sales we cannot blame them, but I for one will have to buy the last issue and feel very sad when I do!

    :(

That really are sad news! My husband used to read them when he was a kid and then our son started reading them. We had huge piles of these comics in our old apartment but I threw them in the trash when we moved.
The good news is that they will continue online but it's not the same! Now everyone will read them on their tablets, but we don't even have one. I guess I will have to go to the print shop now to have my printed copy of The Dandy...

Just to buy them but I find them a bit childish these days!

Me and my brother we used to have The Dandy, The Beano and The Beezer.
We both looked forward to those deliveries of comics. What fun!!!!!

I still have loads of comics and hardback 'annuals' although the 'pile' is going down thanks to car boots.
Not much money in them really and I dumped a lot.

I'm in a stage where I need to lose a lot of stuff with my strategy to downsize accommodation before jumping to the Paradise Islands.

Still, very very sad that yet another part of my life will be gone.

    That's life!!

But the point was what a great simple childhood they gave to you (and me), it is sad that it will disappear, the demise of the Victor, Hotspur and so many other comics of days gone by is very sad, interesting that the Beano is still managing a circulation of 38,000 but it will doubtless die a death as well.

I collected many comics over the years, I still have a small collection of American Marvell comics, wish I still had some of my DC stuff but all that is long gone, I only got into collecting in my teens and by that time all the great British comics of my childhood were little but a memory, they give a great introduction to childhood though and that will be sadly missed.

Arghh you probably binned a small fortune, even if they are not worth much today :( the future often holds surprises!

I have lots of good friends whose mothers threw out seriously valuable collections of books, comics, music, models, my good friend Francis lost a huge collection of early edition Sci-Fi novels in mint condition and loads of irreplaceable Airfix models, so sad.

It's true that there is not a lot of money in them right now but that is in part the problem, finding the correct audience.

I wish I still had my early Doctor Who annuals from 1963-64, apart from anything else they actually had some great stories. I also remember the annuals had really detailed schematics of Daleks and other stuff, I was only 5 years old it made a deep impression, I wanted so much to understand how all this stuff worked, it instilled a desire to understand everything that has lasted my entire life, it was not just Dr Who but lots of 60 culture, Tomorrows World, How, and loads of other bits of media, there was a whole atmosphere of "we can build a future".
