Mar's pregnant (4 years married on 22nd, my birthday christmas eve) ... Nice pressy We're delighted. She's about a month along and feeling tired and nauseus, but at the same time, so full of happiness and excitement . Yay
Now, aren't you glad you are in Norn Iron and not in the Philippines, at this moment! That's 70-100,000+ pesos that you just haven't spent! I have one son born in Manila Doctors' Hospital and one born in Ipswich Hospital. The quality of care was about the same, or slightly in favour of Manila Doctors', but the difference in cost was striking! There are some interesting cultural differences - the mother of my children was somewhat startled to find herself being put in a bath the day after giving birth by Caesarian - she was still "leaking" from the stitches - because in East Asian societies a mother is not expected to bath, shower or even wash much for a month after giving birth! Another is that you won't be told ifthe baby is a boy or a girl - not because the ultrasound operator does not know, but because Britain has rules about not telling parents, lest they choose to terminate a girl foetus. The Philippines has no qualms about this and will tell you right away. You may want to organise a reverse balikbayan box - baby clothes are much cheaper in the Philippines!
Well, I'll be ...........!!! Some good news at long last...!!!:vhappy: Congratulations to the proud parents...!!!!
Thanks to all of you. We're properly chuffed. And knackered with her 1st trimester-ness lol. Thanks again all. Tom.
Congratulations Tom, it's quite and experience, good on you both! Best wishes all the way! Methersgate, Tom lived over there for quite a long time he won't have had many hospital fees but I'm sure he has a good idea of the numbers, but you are just about dead right, my daughter came in at about 70,000 peso in 2008, that was before the DNA test that our government required for me to prove she was mine, that cost another 60,000 peso at the time, but after many trials they accepted our application and my daughter has a British passport now
Great news Tom and Mar a truly life-changing experience. Having children is the greatest adventure
