It's the age-old question. Does money buy happiness? Probably the most universal human yearning is to be happy. Sounds so simple but this basic goal all too often eludes us. So ,can you transform the money you work so hard for into the good life? Or do you need something else? Once you get basic human needs met financially, does more and more money make more and more happiness? Health, family and friends are often quoted as the most important factors for our happiness. According to the scientists even marriage adds an average 7 years to our lives. The theory sounds good, but what about reality! Life is not always full of happiness. Unhappiness is also a real part of life. Life is so unpredictable. There's no guarantees for happiness at all. Our mind rises and falls and poor health can shift our happiness into sadness. If constant happiness is your expectation you have an unrealistic goal. Not everything is in our hands. When we no longer have to worry about poverty or tragedy – we often worry about happiness. During catastrophic times, people don't about happiness, they talk about survival. So guess what ? If you worry about happiness, then you MUST live in a satisfying/fulfilling environment. Right?
Too much money, particularly if you didn't have to work for it, can bring despair and can ruin an otherwise happy and content person. Not having to worry about how you are going to provide tomorrows breakfast, dinner and supper for your kids though also makes a big difference to how you feel about life. In the Phils too many people are talking about survival not happiness and they may do that for all of their lives. I wish to be comfortable not rich but I would rather we worked for it than have it handed to us on a plate.
Right then, when you win the lottery I assume you will consider giving me the winning ticket, so you can work for it instead then
Yes. If the money you spending is from your hard earned money. If you bought something you dreamed from your hard earned money!!! This is the real happiness for me as money is just my servant/r If you're spending fortune money from others, it's also happiness to a different point. People never satisfied so it does not give much happiness.
I really don't think money can buy happines at all. Not true happiness. Money allows choices, yes. If you're not a happy or joyful person naturally money can't help you.
Enjoying and maintaining social networks of family and friends, and being kind and helpful to each other, to me, provides that key ingredient for happiness Also, enjoying the present. The now. Really making that time to stand still, to stop and stare, enjoy and just be happy without worrying at all about the future or the past. For me, these are things that allow me to get through all the ups and downs of life, to cope with the negatives and the positives and come out the other side happy. The 'Now' is a very underated thing. You can have an immediate impact on now. Something you cannot do with the past or in fact the future. Anyone who really thinks that the future can be precisely planned or predicted is in for a bit of a shock.
that is very true indeed some say what is life without money heheh and to us filipino no money no honey nyahahahaha
money isn't everything... it can get you somewhere and can give you a good head's up on anything... but then, those people who listen to you when your money talks will easily go away when you don't have any money left...
Don't you also think that having goals and a belief in something bigger than us, from religion, spirituality or a philosophy of life is important for our happiness? With meaning, belief and goals in our life, we will be always 'on track' so to speak. I guess the deciding factor is whether we can actually use the knowledge we have of what makes us happy to lift our happiness levels when needed. None of this requires any input from money.
I don't believe that money can buy true happiness... the love you get from someone who honestly loves you and cares for you is priceless... ika nga ni jlo '...my love don't cost a thing...'
