A Filipina friend from Subic was in the UK taking her RYA Yacht Master certificate - she stayed with me a couple of times during and after her course. The thing that impressed her most about Britain was the road system.

You havent been to IOM. Worst roads in Britain, except the TT course.

But yes, strange thing to say but there are some fantastic roads in the UK these days.

Two weeks from now I will be in Manila.

Any recommendations for a decent Indian in 2015?

There is one somewhere near Dela Costa St. in Salcedo Village, Makati. I forgot the name though, but it should be the only Indian restaurant there.

It's not as good as Prince of Jaipur, but it's decent. They serve good Gulab!

Never found a single Indian restaurant worthy of the name in Cebu and I followed every lead in three visits 16 months in all

There is a good curry house here on Panglao run by a Brit that used to live in India.. Nothing bad to say about it.
We have a curry night about once a month with friends at each others homes...My turn last month and all went well till someone complained that my beef vindaloo wasnt hot enough.. I have 2 Bhut Jolokia bushes in pots that are just pushing out pods now so next time they come to mine I will blow his damned socks off..
Those babies are over a million on the Schoville scale.
No complaints though with my homemade chili lime pickles and Mango chutney..
We eat very well here and in some excellent restaurants including but not restricted to French,Indian,Italian,English,Thai and German fare..
    Dont want for anything really.

I love the pork in the Philippines, Stu, especially lechon baboy. My wife really misses lechon baboy.

Maybe the rhum varies? My wife said nobody went blind on her island and the fishermen guzzle a lot!

I've been recommended the New Bombay which is outside Glorietta, my mate said it was better than the Indian Brasserie on Paisley Road west in Ibrox Glasgow which is a very good traditional Indian, his son who lives in Makati thought it was pretty good too but he does not have a lot of experience of Indian restaurants in Scotland or England.

Nearly went to the New Bombay when I met up with Phil and his wife in Makati back in April but Ana is not fond of Indian so we went to a Japanese place in Greenbelt instead.

We accidentally walked past the New Bombay about a week later, I didn't know where it was, the place is small and the food looked ok and fairly authentic through the window :) It is on the outside of I think Glorietta 3.

I haven't tried the other yet in Glorietta. But they should be pretty much the same.

From what I've heard, it's a family business.

The owner, an Indian, is married to a Pinay.

Oh and be prepared for lots of WAITRESSES! Hahahahahaha...
It will remind you of the Caste system! You'll feel like a king!

I can highly recommend this place https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@55.8...4!1sLsr3bkGYMq10yL-s49zU7A!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 if you are ever in Glasgow, looks crap but serves wonderful food, oh and you have to be very careful as you are more likely to get murdered by a nutter in Glasgow than you are almost anywhere I've ever been in Manila :D

I can also recommend Akbar's in Glasgow and of course the Koh i Noor.

Google street view so you can explore the surroundings just click and grab and move the mouse :)

Just wait when you get here to Manila.

If you have a driver, then he'll know the place.

If not, ditch the car, hop on a taxi and just tell them New Bombay in Salcedo, Makati or better yet Glorietta.

You can't miss either of the places! Especially Glorietta.

In April we were driving down to Nasugbu, 12 of us in an overloaded car, we went the coast route through the mountain tunnel not via Tagaytay, we blew a tyre 30 seconds after leaving the tunnel and nearly went over the side of the mountain into a ravine, the spare tyre was leaking too, so Dhren hitched a lift on the back of a motorcycle with the wheel to the nearest vulcanising place.

While we were waiting many many Filipinos drove past didn't bat an eye, but one car stopped and an Indian chap got out and was desperate to help, he'd been living in the Phils for 20 years Filipina girlfriend and he was a really nice bloke offered to take us as far as the nearest bit of civilisation as we were really stranded but in the end we took the chance that Dhren would get the tyre fixed.

I really appreciated the fact that that Indian gentleman stopped and tried his best to help.

You never know. He might be the same guy! Hahaha..

Nasugbu, Batangas is alright. That seemed quite fun, 12 in an overloaded car. SARDINAS! (SARDINES!)

You should have showed them some legs. Pa-sexy ka! The cars would have stopped! Hahahahahah!

But if you're looking for good beaches in Luzon, try Pagudpud far north in Ilocos Norte.

We were going to barangay Maya-Maya which while it did have a nice huge villa was not such a great place to spend a weekend.

edit: actually my joke comment sounds a little sick given we have my kids in this picture, I apologise folks :( (removed the joke)

No worries. We get it. No harm done.

    Piktyur! Pikytur!

You can actually add this one part of Pinoy culture to the rest of observations' of the OP.

Pinoys love to take pictures! Then they'll post them to FB and Instagram.

    Especially selfies. Hahahahahahha...
