You need the affidavit and to follow the instructions on the government website. Your friend is wrong. I married in the Philippines last year and used the affidavit.

If your friend got married a while back then he may have used CNI, like I did, but as stated CNI isn't applicable anymore.

I got married September 2015. Affirmation only then. Check with where you're planning to get married what THEY want (in addition to the embassy-issued documents... possibly).

I was married on December 20th, having arrived on the 1st.

The day after arriving, I went to the British Embassy, armed with divorce certificate (signed by a judge), birth certificate and passport, and swore an affidavit that I was free to marry. Then we flew up to Ilocos and applied for the wedding licence the next day. This should take ten working days. I think that took us to around the 14th or something, and so we picked the next Saturday for the wedding.

I would book a month. You don't want to be flying home in your wedding suit do you?

Thanks for that information yeh a month notice seems more realistic when i fill in the affidavit form online has it all got to be filled in in print like i mean your not allowed to just use a biro pen to fill in the form?

When I married in the Phils I made the appointment at the embassy and whilst in the UK i filled in (on computer) and printed the affidavit. I flew there and the next day went to embassy with docs and the completed affidavit. Got it stamped. They next day went to town hall and applied for license. The license was issued about 14 working days later (they have to wait for ten working days by law) and I married fully 28 days after I first set foot in the embassy. In my case I made two trips one for the affidavit and license and one for the wedding. If you choose to make one trip I reckon you will need a month.

you don't need a months notice. You get the affidavit from embassy, apply for license, wait about ten or so working days for license, and marry after that at the venue of your choice or book a place at a ceremony at the Town Hall. I Have no idea what you mean about a months notice. Unless this is something to do with a church wedding in which case perhaps the church has rules

It's worth checking also that your local council in the Phils doesn't require you to either plant a tree or go on a counselling session first. Mine didn't but they do vary

you fill in the form at home and print it out and then make an appointment on the embassy website and take along the fee in cash and your supporting documents and the completed affidavit. They will stamp and seal the affidavit.

thanks would they accept like be okay with say if i filled in all of the form in print and wrote the marriage date in in biro pen a bit later i would prefer that as the date may change or i may not be able to get married on a certain date as if i already printed in a specific date and time it could be wrong if i couldnt get that particular date for my wedding day and wished to change it so doing that part in biro would be better for me but im not sure if it would be okay by the authorities their?

I'm sure they would be ok with it. Contact Jhoanna Hines at the British Embassy in Manila. Jhoanna.Hines@fco.gov.uk - very helpful

am I right in saying the marriage license last for 120days ? I was also thinking going twice and get the affidavit done and applying the marriage license, then going back later within the 120days of course
