Hello guys, I'm near the end of the process but need a few questions answered.

Me and my wife have already paid for the visa etc and she has her appointment in Danang vietnam on july 7th.
I believe we have all the documents required i think according to this helpful forum!

Ive just been reading over this new digitally scan your documents thing they've introduced and i have a few questions.

    1. Theres 2 options, first it says i can send them to an address here in the uk. Where they scan them.
So does that mean my wife will not bring them to her appointment obviously??

And the 2nd option is she takes them to the visa application centre there in vietnam?
(does this have to be prior to her appointment or on the same date)

I apologise if this is long and confusing but i require a bit of help as its getting close to the date.

both. you send your documents to Sheffield--she takes hers to VFS--( or whatecer its called in Vietnam )--VFS will scan her docs and forward the scans to UKVI. just make sure you put her application reference on your bundle. thats the theory anyway. just teething problems in the system are causing even longer delays.

So i need to both? I've already sent half of the paperwork to her in vietnam and theres only 1 copy of some of the documents.
like the 6months of payslips, letter form boss and certain bills.

her appointment is in 25 days and we haven't submitted the documents yet.
she has some of it but not the stuff like the upto date bank statements.

will it be an issue for me getting the documents to here in the uk.
or can i send her the rest of the papers and she will bring them all to the appointment that day????

I did exactly the same...all our visa documents went to my wife in Philippines. I couriered everything over to her before the new changes had come into effect. She just needs to take all the documents with her to her appointment and they will check it all through and then scan them all. She will be given back the original documents but will retain her passport. Your passport does not need to be retained you just need a colour scan to submit. That way at least you can still travel if needed...do not submit your passport!!
She will have to pay them to scan the documents, ours cost around £60. They will then email them to Sheffield. You can also avail yourself of a text/email service if you wish to get a confirmation text that the documents have arrive. My wife got one later that evening saying that the documents had been successfully sent. That cost about £3.00 they also offer a courier service to send her passport back once the decision has been made that costs around £10.
Hope this helps...any questions just ask.

Ok cool. So a coloured scanned photocopy of my passport is enough for the appointment?
I have pay slips in the portfolio, but 1/2 of them are only print outs. is that ok?

Bank statement print outs i wouldnt recommend. My solicitor was quite clear about that unless they are printed by the bank on bank paper. If paper statements through the post also need the cover sheets as well. If you dont have complete set then do what i did and ask bank for the full tax year print out.

On the specific issue of bank statements the guidance states that print outs of your online statements are acceptable - but only if the logo of the bank appears on each.

I bank with Halifax / HBOS and their online statements have this - so I just printed off the previous 6 months.

Settlement visa issued for my fiancé - who is now here with me! :like:

I was told in Manila to send them to Sheffield. As I suppose they were too lazy in manila to scan them.
So from that it is not necessary to do both.
Don't waste your money on priority.
There are a lot of people waiting not just 10-15 days but 40 (working) plus days and heard nothing!

Hey guys my wife interview is on july 7th.
And we put expected arrival date 11th august. As i thought it only took 3 weeks max to process with priority etc.

With them having issues with 'priority' option is it gonna be a problem as August 11th is never gonna happen now?

Will we have to alter the application, weve already payed for obviously.

Putting August 11 is not a problem but whether they will make a decision within that time is unlikely. They will have to make the validity of the visa on the day that they make the decision.

ok so theres no deadline to arrive after out 'set' dte? she could arrive hypotheticaly 2-3 months later than our estimated 11aug?

Yes like for example they make the decision let's say September so she won't be able to fly till that time. Since its a spouse visa you only have 1 month validity in the vignette.

Oh so its A month from there date after they decide and not the date you pick on the application!
Why do they want a date and arrival time from me in the application? just as a an rough estimation for your plans?

we put a date that was good for us--within 30 days from that date. i think if you put a much later date--say 3 months ahead---the cynic in me suspects the eco will toss the application for a few weeks.

Yes a rough estimate and in your case August 11 is too soon so they will probably put the visa validity whenever they make the decision.

I was reading the small print about the priority. It said you can't apply to for the priority if its to a common wealth country.
Do you know of anybody using it in britain?

I know you guys said don't use the priority but if you dont it will take upto 12-24 weeks to process the application?
What is the usual time to process the in your experiences guys????

Would it been better not to apply for settlement and got her here faster??

You mentioned about paying them to scan documents. We will do that and after that they'll send them to the uk?
Thats the last thing she has to do with our documents?
In conclusion all were doing is I'm sending them to her and she brings them to the appointment pays a fee....nothing else??

My bank statements are the real ones. But half my payslips are just photocopied.
