I would be most interested if any of you may have ideas on this subject, after local fishermen found this in their nets.

There is a potential pot of gold here……

Always wanted to see and smell raw ambergris, I know a lady with a very lucrative (turnover £750k'ish a year) essential oils business, we actually chatted about ambergris the last time I saw her.

You have over 95 million dollars worth at today's market price for pure ambergris, that's a lot of whale sick

Thanks for this - I have sent two emails - 1) from my main email account and 2) from my hushmail account with a 14mb file video.
I have samples of the product in the UK, which I could send.
Grateful for your help, and I won't let the figures run away.
What would they mean - the restoration and modernisation of several shanty towns.

Thank you Druk - advised that apparently it is not Ambergris .............
    Bonjour,

We got your photos, but we are sorry to inform you that it is not ambergris. We are only expert in ambergris, not in various material found in the sea, so we cannot tell you exactly what it is.

Generally, when it is not ambergris: we get photos of animal fat - dried part of an animal – spermaceti – black amber (no value) – pitch coke – limestone – pumice stone – clinker – sponge - red shale – sea cucumber - wax – resin – gum – candle – paraffine – flint…

We are pleased to send you our documentation on ambergris in order to help you to know more about it.

If you compare the file, I am sending to you, you will understand that your material is not ambergris; as the main characteristics are:

    • Squid beaks are to befound all over the piece.
    • Colour is normally brown, grey or white.
    • Aspect is hard but breakable and not soft or waxy and never hard like a stone.
    • Inside shape is like kidneys or layers.
You are the most welcome to contact us anytime if you need more information or if you get products which could be ambergris; in that case, please send photos.

So near yet so far, the story of my life, a life changing sum of cash almost in grasp then inexplicably snatched away  if you ever find any again it smells of faeces when fresh, I kid you not. A parfumer nez in Paris told me the price, incredible sums if your lucky enough to find a chunk.
