    Hello everyone,

Just wondering if anyone here has any experience dealing with the annulment process in the Philippines?

    Thank you

I did some research 10 years ago first if possible never let the lawer know theres a foriegner involved

If the spouse hasnt been heard from for 7 years presumptive death was an easier potential route

Expect it to take longer and cost more than you will be told

Well to be honest I am worried about finding a Lawer who is not going to rip me off lol, I heard its very expensive so the last thing I need is to lose the money I spend on it.

Can you tell me where are are with yours and how long it has taken and the cost?

    Thanks

my wife started her annulment proceedings in december 2013---finally got it in march 2015.
cost me £2000...but it can cost a lot more---and take a lot longer. her husband was in agreement with it---and didnt need a bribe!

but--many fili husbands will want a big back hander to agree to it---so if there is any likelyhood of this---no mention of you in the background. this goes for lawyers too---and all the rest in the food chain.

it varies. depends on the lawyer. most want a lot upfront. i dont think a " no win--no fee" arrangement exists over there. unsuccessful annulment lawyers tend not to live long.

For me I paid 3k (upfront) and the lawyer is in Davao. Luckily her ex did not want any money as he wants to be free asap to marry his new girlfriend.

I just got an email back from the Lawer, here is his reply.

Annulment will take at least one (1) year and your girlfriend needs to appear and testify only once.

We will not file the case unless we are sure that there are enough grounds so it will be a winning case. We are proud to say that we have a good track record in the last 15 years that we have been handling annulment cases.

Documents needed are the NSO certified true copy of your marriage contract and birth certificate of child/ren, if any.

Total average package cost is Php 230,000 which already includes acceptance fee of 180k, filing fee of 5k, psychologist’s fee of 23k and appearance fee budget of 22k (6-8 appearances of lawyer in court).

We require a first payment of Php 180,000 because 90% of the work (research, interview, writing of petition, etc.) happens at the start. Then the remaining balance will be paid in sequence when the process is ongoing. A legal services agreement/contract will be signed for this purpose.
