    Ok guys,

My girlfriend has gone to apply for the 'family of a settled person' visa and the choices on the website after selecting it are only these below. Is it the standard one she needs to apply for as I don't think it's that 'Marriage Visitor Visa' because then she will only be allowed to come here, marry me then must go home again!

You need to make an application here.

    https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/home/welcome

    Register an account.
Fill in the basic information and when you come to select visa type you put this:

    Reason for Visit: Settlement
    Visa Type: Settlement
    Visa Sub type: Marriage

    Hi mate,

Thanks for the quick reply. We don't see those options, and yes it is the visa for her to come here as my fiance, to get married here then be able to stay here without having to go back to the Philippines.

You didn't look carefully. Have you registered an account yet? You need to do before you see those.

Thanks for the help mate. I have just managed to register an account and am now starting the process to apply for myself.

I guess that will also make it easier to pay for the visa itself as well because it's me that has the money to pay for it!?

It doesn't really matter coz even if your gf register herself she can share the email and password to you so you can log in as well to check the application and pay. ;)

. just take your time with the application form. you need to select settlement:marriage for what is called a fiancee visa. once selected you cant change it. if you select wrong--like family of settled person--you need to start a new application. we got it wrong 3 times !

once started--you can delete and edit your answers. lots of drop downs appear. best to online together so you can confer over any answers your not sure of. we took nearly 3 weeks filling ours out--3 attempts. if your at all unsure--dive back on here and ask.

when youre sure youre finished--submit and you will see the payment stage and the booking at vfs stage. she then prints it off---it will not be an exact copy of the online form-----signs it and takes it with her to vfs to do her biometric--and any documents from her end.

Thank you for your reply bigmac. :) Yeah we will take our time.

Do you know what English test she should pass? And does she have to get that done independently before we actually complete the visa application? It doesn't say on the form! Also, I cannot find how much this test fee is!
    Thanks :like:

yes--she needs to do the ielts before she applies--there is a section about it on the form. not sure about the test fee--hopefully someone who has done it recently will respond.

also--she needs her TB test before she can apply.

She was hoping to do the TB test on the same day as the visa check/interview because it's only done in Manila and she lives and works full time at the moment in Cebu. Surely, they don't expect people to travel all that way twice!!?
