This is Western Union's rate for me. So comparing the two, for £1000 with WU you'll get P60,516 and for £1,000 with BPI you'll get P 62,038 - so you're P1,522 (approx. £25) better off using BPI... or similar method.
World Remit, like some other places, may not charge any fees on foreign exchange... they just take it out of the rate they give you.
Thanks so much everyone -- as per a ton of really useful info. Will consider in greater depth but for now I created a Kabayan Remit account and did a test transfer of £100 straight to Kris's bank account. The rate was 62.4 php and the fee £5 which I'm happy with. Kris has had an email from Kabayan's Filipino finance partner (another bank I think) to say the sum has reached her account but it's still showing as "transaction pending" on my account. Perhaps in a few hours the funds will be fully transferred. Gerry
