If you're talking for example a 20ft container then the cost of shipping would probably be more than the goods you intend to put in the container
No, I haven't, (although I did rent a 20 footer when I moved back to the UK from Beijing), but I work for a very large shipping line. I can get you a quote, but frankly you will do better to use a forwarder, because the real problem isn't the shipping (the box would go by road to Felixstowe, then sea to Singapore or possibly Hong Kong, then transhipped to Manila) but the Customs clearance in Manila. Your choice of forwarding agent should be made entirely on their ability to get your box out of Customs in Manila without the contents disappearing or you going bankrupt. The actual shipping for an FCL 20 or 40 footer is child's play.
I had considered this option when my family and I moved to the Phils a few years ago, (it was several thousand pounds even then). In the end, it was cheaper to send 6 large Balikbayan boxes. Included in them were many delicate items, including computers, H-Fi, etc. All arived a couple of months later, as anticipated, delivered to my door, unopened and not a single breakage. Evidently my careful packing and choice of shipper had paid off. Cost about £600 all in. IMO it makes little sense to send large items like furniture and white goods, which can be bought cheaply in the Phils, and probably better suited to local conditions.
