    Hi! I already received my new passport, which is now in my married name, and working on the TOC/BRP application. I feel like I am over analysing the questions so need some guidance please.

    Question 3.1 is asking if I have used any name(s) other than the one I gave in question 1.4 (provided my married name including my maiden name). My understanding is that I shoukd provide my maiden name since that is what I used in the past. Is this correct?

    Thanks in advance!

    I think you will have to state your maiden name there as you used that for your previous Fiancée visa application.

    You can do it at the same time, we did, a word of warning, the Embassy is now asking for a NSO marriage certificate (I hope they have updated the Embassy website to reflect this), read the posts by @Maharg in the thread below for further information;

    http://www.british-filipino.com/index.php?threads/renewing-philippines-passport-in-london.13445/

    By the way it took the wife almost three months to receive her passport, I'm guessing the time it takes varies but just bear that in mind.

    Correct. Going for a second attempt this week.

    And, no, they still haven't updated the application form to say that this is required.

    I hope it works out for you this time Graham.

    Ridiculous that the Philippine Embassy has not updated the form on their website, many people must have fallen into this trap.

    They wouldn't process my wife's passport in her married name because we didn't have an official NSO report of marriage certificate. So we had to order one online.

    This is despite having been married in the UK and also having the original report of marriage paperwork.

    So you won't be able to do your report of marriage and change the name in your passport on the same day. Even though it says on their website that you can.

    @Timmers how long does it normally take for the TOC to be processed? I can't find it in the gov.uk website. Thanks!

    I don't know to be honest as we have not changed the details on the wife's BRP and I expect to pay a fine next month (£1000) when we apply for the second FLR.

    I did try and look it up but I'm reading conflicting information on how long it takes to replace the BRP.

    I will get back to you if I find something conclusive.

    If you are in a rush it looks like you can attend one of the premium centres;

    https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence-permits/replace

    Read page 8 of the attached, they do not commit to how long it will take to process the application :(

    Thanks @Timmers and no worries! It did not also say I have to send my BRP card but someone here said I had to. I provided my passports and several other docs. Just hoping they will get in touch in case they need anything else.

    Yes you have to send your BRP, they don't want someone else getting hold of it.

    Its a bit inconvenient not having an idea how long the process will take but I am guessing it will not be long as it is just a straight name change and they will not have to make any inquiries and investigations as if you had one lost or stolen for example.

    I think that's the wrong notes Timmers. It's the TOC notes that are needed rather than RC.

    https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...r-visa-to-biometric-residence-permit-form-toc

    We finally managed to apply for a new passport in my wife's married name today so will have to renew the brp presumably, once we get it back.

    So keep us updated on everything.

    Ah okay, thanks Graham, I was just googling to try and ascertain how long the process of changing your BRP takes.

    Good to hear you finally sorted the loved ones passport, this five year route is just one little hurdle after another.

    I still cannot believe that the Philippine Embassy cannot be bothered to update their website, if they had anything about them they should have given three months notice of the NSO Marriage Certificate on their website.

    I'd be really peeved if I was you.

    They also wanted to see my passport, which isn't mentioned either. Fortunately I took it just in case.

    'Life in the UK Test' next. We had a look round the British Museum today for a spot of revision. :)

    I'm sure the Life in the UK Test will just need a bit of revision and mock tests, another little hurdle for us to navigate.

    5 years is a long time.

    I've never been to the British Museum, I have only heard good things about it.

    We've been revising together and it doesn't take too long for her to start passing the mock tests every time so hopefully it won't be too difficult as long as the revision is done.

    The British museum was interesting, although she ended up paying most attention to the Korean section as she has a bit of a thing about South Korea. We then went for a meal. Korean. Naturally.

    @firew0myn I was wondering what documentation you are providing for your updated BRP. As far as I can see you just need the current BRP, the new passport and your marriage certificate. Am I corrent in that asumption? Biometrics provided at a post office, as with the visa application.
