Hi bigmac! Regarding this issue do u think its necessary for us to provide marriage cert of his mum and her husband? Perhaps to support the letter from the landlord that we can live there since he is married to my mum in law?

Hey guys! Almost complete with our requirements. Though im a bit worried about our tb test result. Our certificate is valid until nov 30 and we will apply this october. Im worried that by the time it reaches sheffield or the officer who will handle our application, our cert will only have few weeks or days until it expires. Do u think this will affect our application? Can we get a new cert instead if allowed?

He can't send it personally. He will have to send it through the post.

Just noticed this thread. Actually, the immigration rules state that all submitted documents must be originals or certified copies.

You are able to obtain another certificate. Certificates are usually valid for six months. The intention is that you obtain it shortly before your application and it remains valid for your entry to the UK. If the certificate is not valid for your stated date of travel then the application may be refused.

I don't understand this question. You don't need any other marriage certificates or information. You need a written letter from the person whose name appears on the deeds of the property that you have permission to live there. If that person receives money in exchange for you living there, that makes them a landlord. If that person does not receive any money for you living there, that makes them the property owner.

Initially we planned to apply last july but for some reasons we delayed it till this october. So i was thinking before we apply this october, maybe i could get another certificate.

He doesnt receive money from my sponsor. My husband just share for the foods and bills. he lives with his mum and mum's husband. Property is named under the mum's husband. That's why i was thinking maybe i need their marriage certificate.

Yes I am aware. But I thought she was trying to ask if she needs to certify the photocopied documents from an original document. So I said no since they will send the original copy too.

And nowadays with the scanning service a lot of people have submitted photocopies at the VFS and it is accepted as long as it is clear and readable.

The 'copy set' of documents obviously does not need to be certified. However the original set of submitted documents should be either originals or certified copies, regardless of whether they are scanned after submission.

The scanning service may make it easier to submit an uncertified photocopy, and I am sure that some people have gotten away with it. However UKVI would be justified in rejecting such documents as being in breach of the rules.

Re read the rules and it states that where the original is required then that is what needs to be provided.
It goes on to say if photocopies are also (key word) provided they must be clear.

Why are you including those documents?

I take it that you have taken or are planning to take an IELTS English test?

I feel you might be better submitting the documentation that is required by UKVI rather than being guided by other applicants. The UKVI do not require sight of the applicants income, bank details, qualifications or employment status to further a spouse settlement visa application. The UK based sponsor is required to submit their financial and employment details and is not required to submit evidence of any diploma or other educational qualifications. I would suggest that you do not clutter your application with irrelevant paperwork.
