I'm going back to phils in may and was wondering about airlines I normally use Philippine airlines but the price has nearly doubled in the last week. I was looking at using Cathay Pacific and Cathay dragon. Has anyone used them before do they offer wifi amd what's there service like I've only ever flown Philippine airlines

I use either Etihad or Emirates, 3 or 4 trips a year. Both first class airlines, with good journey duration, and low prices.

    Join their 'loyalty' programmes.

Etihad kindly upgraded me to Business class on two of the segments last month too. :like:

Both have wi-fi available... charged to your credit card.

They are in a different league to PAL.

What would you say the differences are between them and PAL?
Tbh I’ve only ever flown PAL so can’t really compare them to anyone else, but I find no problems really, for me it’s a direct flight from Heathrow to Manila so no stop overs , the price is normally not to bad. I’d say for me, being picky is if you travel regular they don’t seem to change the films or add new ones on the in flight entertainment very often and another is the food is not always to my choice , but I jus make sure I eat well before I leave. But other than those minor things I’ve never had any problems on the 12 flights I’ve done with them.

Cathay Pacific have now emerged as the best one although there is nothing wrong with Emirates or Etihad.

avoid Filipino brands if you want quality, consistency, and genuine value for money, their national flagship airline PAL included.

Always have preferred either etihad or emirates as well. Never had any problem with them.

Better quality of food, entertainment and overall customer service. My previous experience with PAL is their poor timely performance- they didnt get their name ‘PAL always Late’ for nothing. Plus in the few instance i flew with them, i felt that im treated like a second class citizen inside the aircraft with priority given to foreigners. Never had that with any gulf carrier.

Maybe I been lucky with the timing i haven’t been delayed with them yet , I find the staff is normally really friendly on the plane, the entertainment doesn’t bother too much There is still quite a few films and tv series but from what I can remember last 4 times I flown with them they been the same things.

On connecting flights does your baggage get put on to the next plane? Or do you collect it and then check in again? Jus wondering as I’ve never had a connecting flight.

Your (checked) baggage gets put on to the next plane. Don't need to worry about it.

I will be booking my next flight with Etihad this coming week, for my early June trip.

Price should be less than 500 pounds return from Manchester.

    Look on Skyscanner.com

Yeah I will definitely look I normally use sky scanner as I find it’s the cheapest. I’m looking to go in may for 3 weeks

Anyone finding it more convenient to fly to Clark (Pampanga), then Emirates tends to be the cheapest , and journey time is good too, having done the trip myself .

I prefer to pay slightly more to book directly with the airline, having compared prices and flight details, rather than any of the agents on Skyscanner. Personal choice of course.

15 minutes on my laptop and I've paid and have my e-ticket and journey schedule printed out in front of me.

I have flown China Southern and both times it' been a very good experience.
Also Etihad and Cathey also good.
Hated the flight with Kuwait airways.

my mrs wants to fly over to pinas on or about 23rd april--for about 3 weeks holiday. ive been looking on skyscanner...missed a few cheap deals with PAL--but now gone up a lot.

is it better to book now or wait nearer the time ? best i seem to find is china air--around £410 ( if those tickets actually exist )

I would think the earlier you book the better.
