I just want to ask advice about my residence permit, I renewed my passport last November and I got it last January with the surname of my husband. In my residence permit I used my surname when I'm single. My question is,

Do I have to apply new residence permit with my new surname? Or we can wait until we apply for my second FLR (M)?
My flr (M) visa will be expired soon in July. Also, since I arrived here in UK we moved 2x as well do I have to change address ? I try to check the gov site it's just confusing and my husband is confused as well if what is the right thing to do, we are planning to apply it by filling the form and send this Saturday but we're not sure.
Does anyone here have email address from them? I hope someone can guide me. Many thanks!

Your BRP and passport names must match and yes you must advise change of address.

Thank you Mattecube, is this means that I don't have to change / update my BRP with my husband family name? And just wait until my I applied my next visa? I have my expired passport which is I used my family name when I'm single and that's what match in my BRP now.

Your passport and BRP names must match. So if you have updated your passport to your husbands name then you have to update your BRP. Dont wait till your next visa.

    Hi Everyone,

My friend introduce me this website, I hope you can help me please regarding my situation.

I've got married last April 2018. I already changed my name on my passport and received it last June 2018. Now I need to change my last name on BRP card to match my last name on my new passport.

I've already researched regarding on how to change details for new BRP. The problem was we are planning to apply for Spouse Visa for my husband this December 2018. Any idea how long is the processing time for the NEW BRP to arrive? Or do the Home office send back the OLD BRP? And can I use my OLD BRP card to submit it alongside with my other documents for the Spouse Visa? In case the new one is still processing?

Is getting a Solicitor would be better for us to help us on everything we need to for our application? Preparing these things are very stressful and I know it will be worth it.

I hope you can please help me and any suggestions is much appreciated. Thank you so much in advance.

Hi Bigmac, Sorry for the confusion. I have BRP (Indefinite Leave to Remain). I still have my maiden name on the card. And I want to changed it to my married name.

I mean I will be the "sponsor"? And I need to submit my documents as well.

He is still in the philippines. We're planning to apply for settlement visa for him to enable to join me here in UK.

I had a BRP Indefinite Leave to Remain. As I read from the Home office website I need to update my details because I've changed my last name.
