Has anyone booked their air tickets UK to the Philippines early (six months or greater) and, if so, how did you find the cost?

It's hard Mike, I would have liked to book a couple of months ago because the price was great.

There is only one way to do this and that is you have to decide what you feel is a good price and then decide how flexible you are going to be.

Three months ago I could have got my next flight for £400 and with an airline I wanted to fly with, now the same flight is £500 with an airline I don't want to fly with and £550 with one that I would have flown with, that for me is still within acceptable boundaries.

The problem was and is that I don't have spare cash (root canal dentist misery :D) but I am 5 full months from when I would want to travel, generally you will probably get a better price this far out, 9 months out was better 5 months out is ok it could be cheaper closer to the time but it could be a lot worse.

Buy when you can afford it and when the price is inside your criteria is my motto.

That is good advice, Jim :like:
The four of us will be going next Summer as it is time for us as her grandparents need to see the kids and I haven't had a holiday since we went last time five years ago (I think!).

Have you been mostly looking at the airline web pages?

Singapore Airline. Manchester-Manila and back. Really pleased with it coz Manchester is nearer to me and I was trying to avoid Heathrow. Booked it January this year for January 2019.

Wait for the sale. I always fly emirates - just because they fly to cebu and its more direct from glasgow. No luggage worry or connection etc.

There is always a sale around end of december/january and their priced very well. For example, uk to sydney was priced at £550 - travel time is also between jan to june (before summer holidays).

I check the airlines own prices, then SkyScanner, I really only check SkyScanner to get the overall range then I check direct with each carrier sometimes the deals are only on SkyScanner but usually the airlines are about the same or a fraction cheaper.

    I would always check both.

It always puzzles me why carriers don't promote lower prices a long time before flight times and make interest on the money in their bank account.

If they can sell the same ticket at a high price a long time before the flight time they can make even more interest on the money in their bank account. :like:

Not many will buy an expensive ticket a long time before the flight.

The thing is Jim you don't know if it is expensive or not :D

It might be the cheap one and you just missed it :)

True, I paid 820 quid one year then later the same flight was 460 quid. Common sense wins, Price of tickets go up and down more times than a prostitute's pants.
