HELLO everyone! It's me again it's been awhile! Hope you are all well!

My Filipino passport is running out and permit in 2023 so I really need to start with prepping with my paperwork. Life has been so hectic so this was always put in the back burner. I don't know where to start it all but Im so glad I've got this forum to come back to for advice.

Since I lost (during the move) my IELTS and Life in the UK test which I took several years ago, which is kinda annoying really, I've had to take both again and was LUCKY I passed on both. My question is we moved in October last year here in Penarth in Wales. So it has been only roughly 9 months since we moved here, we were living in Bounrnville, Brum for 5 years and Winchester 5 years as well. Correct me if I'm wrong but I know we need to live in the current address for 3 years right? What should I do?

Also can anyone share their requirements they submitted recently for the British citizenship?

Thanks guys so much in advance!

    Quennie

No it doesn’t say you have to live at your current address for 3 years the rules state you have to be present in the UK for 3 years prior to your application ( permitted level of absenteeism eg holidays)

    No financial information required.
Do you go home often? There is a reason I ask this to do with passports

Btw I moved here and got married 2011. Got my card 2013. It will be valid until December 2023.

would hospital letters and appointments as well? Me and hubs went through private fertility treatments for years before we had a successful one , we got our daughter 2018... We had loads of letters and records.

Think they get most of residence information from the passport copies that you have to submit. They are looking for two things:

    1. Where you in the UK either three years ago to the day and this is to the day so if on holiday three years ago need to wait until the day three years ago when you returned to UK.
    2. Have you been out of UK for more than I think 90 days in any one year period stepping back 365days at a time from date of application.

They will want to see details of passports and stamps over the relevant periods to confirm how much out of country.

disagree on point one! if you are away from the UK but within the permitted number of days absent permitted within that 3 year period applying then this is fine.
You can apply for British citizenship by 'naturalisation' if you: are 18 or over. are married to, or in a civil partnership with, someone who is a British citizen. have lived in the UK for at least 3 years before the date of your application.

    be cute with your passports!
You say yours is running out, here is a tip, once you get BC you retain your Philippines passport to the expiry date once it becomes invalid you lose your Philippines status.
So when you apply for BC if you have 6 months on your Philippines passport you will get your British Passport and hold you Philippines passport for 6 months and then lose it and will have to reapply to become a duel citizen (if thats what you want) however in your case if you apply for a new Philippines passport and get it then apply for BC you will have both passports for 10 years affording you and your husband tne rights to travel into the Philippines as you a Philippines national.

Vandalism, I thought you better than this, this thread belongs to another user, and you are posting completely out of context, you got your wish but the posts are not being removed.

edit: actually to be really clear the software does not actually allow the removal of posts in bulk.

How are you doing Malcolm, are you getting over your infection?

The anonymous user JohnAsh no longer has access to his account, I changed the password and username and removed his email address, he was actually always anonymous JohnAsh is not is name.

Right now he can't sign in, I had no desire to do that, I liked the man and I liked his contribution to this place but he really was a "Karen" he didn't seem to understand basic forum ettiquette, it was cyclic, sometimes he was fine and reasonable and other times he wasn't.

Anyway Mattcube is right back to the thread topic, anyone wants to talk about this further should bring it up in the trusted members forum.

Can you not remove to elsewhere the irrelevant threads to the topic title to another place?

The software does not allow that John, if I could I would do it but it is not simple, with a lot of effort I could change the primary keys on a lot of records and relink to other threads, but really I am getting old and investing that amount of time and effort is a bit too much of an ask.

I could copy and paste posts to another private thread then delete the ones here but that violates my point that all of us are responsible for the words we post, this set of posts are a bit of history, this d*** vandalised another users thread, right now that fact is historically visible to anyone reading this forum and I want that to be visible to everyone for posterity, he posted here in this thread deliberately had he not done so I would not have acted the way I have in relation to his account.

He's ruined a girls thread, and yes we need to stop replying on this thread and move any talk to the trusted members forum, but I don't want to erase the fact that he ruined this girls thread, that is information in its own right.
