    haha

yet more evidence that after years of being off the radar, the Philippines is finally being discovered as a tourist destination by the younger crowd and is no longer the preserve of the old-guy sex and marriage tourists.

last week it was 'pornographic dancing' in Cambodia. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...arty-thomas-jeffries-angkor-wat-a8208921.html this week it's riding buffaloes in the buff in the Philippines.

I will ignore the ' old-guy sex and marriage tourists' veiled insult  (newsflash...we all get older one day ), and simply state that the Philippines can do without such moronic behaviour... by young or old guests in the country.

Keep it in Ibiza or wherever such drink and drug-fuelled tossers customarily hang out.

well said that man! (I didnt want to rise to the veiled insult but the fact the OP travels there each year puts him in some category! I wonder if he goes naked and rides buffalo or perhaps his real name is Liam Cox)

Obviously not all , but I suspect there are many western/ filipina relationships where the age gap is much larger than would usually be seen in in the guys home country .
It's no one else's business really , no one need to seek approval from anyone else re their relationship . If the couple are happy , good luck to them .

I'd be just as pissed if a foreigner came here intoxicated and riding our sheep! :D

A Welsh farmer drove to a neighbours farmhouse and knocked at the door. A boy, about 9, opened the door.

“Is your dad or your mum home?” said the farmer.

    “No, they went to town.”

“How about your brother, Howard? Is he here?”

“No, he went with Mum and Dad.”

The farmer stood there for a few minutes, shifting from one foot to the other, and mumbling to himself.

“I know where all the tools are, if you want to borrow one, or I can give dad a message.” said the boy.

“Well,” said the farmer uncomfortably, “I really wanted to talk to your Dad. It’s about your brother, Howard, getting my daughter Susie pregnant”.

The boy thought for a moment…

“You would have to talk to Dad about that. I know he charges £500 for the bull and £50 for the pig, but I don’t know how much he charges for Howard

Most of the ****wit tourists who were arrested in Cambodia were released "on condition that they leave the country" and are not allowed to return, they have left.

Good riddance, show some respect for the Khmer culture please.

As for naked buffalo riding in the Philippines, please get a life...

it is kind of belitting that the only large mammal that the Philippines has to offer up as a national animal is the caribou - it has even been said, in some reports, that the caribou is 'sacred' - which is nothing other than totally hilarious. Whoever wrote that, is clearly getting India and the Philippines mixed up. Caribou may be dearly loved but they are definitely not 'sacred'.

    other ASEAN national animals

    Thailand - elephant
    Indonesia - komodo dragon
    Malaysia - Tiger
Cambodia - Wild Ox (kind of like Philippines, but it is a cow with a spirit and also it is very rare).
Singapore - Lion (even though there are no lions, in Singapore except in the zoo)
Laos - elephant (as always, just like Thailand)
    Burma - Tiger
Vietnam - water buffalo (kind of like Philippines too)
    Brunei - haven't got one

the British national animal is supposedly the Lion, but it is a bit like Singapore.

there aren't any, except in the zoo.

so it had to become the bulldog. Oh well. I believe you see all sorts of fighting dogs on council estates all the time.

I went to a wedding there once. Paddy Ashdown spoke at the reception. When we were introduced I said hello Jeremy which is of course his real name.

Define tourist, in my view the Philippines has had plenty of younger westerners visiting for a very long time, I have several relatively young friends who went there very young and then chose to make their life in the Philippines.

I went there for the first time at the age of 45 was I an 'old guy' sex tourist in your view?

I actually went there to spend money in their economy hiring Filipino computer programmers so that I could outsource work from the UK to the Philippines, the rest is history as they say.

I was a bachelor in my 30s when I first started visiting the Phils. First Filipina wife, in her 20s. Our son is 24 now.

My first visit to Asia was when I was 4 years old. We lived there (Malaya) until I was 7.

I learned to read and write at a school in Singapore.
