I was supposed to get it after midnight tonight, but someone jumped the gun at BT and let it out of the bag a day early.....

Done a couple of speed test and my gast is flabbered.............

    Download speed of 74 meg
    Upload 17.5
    Ping 25

The sites seem to appear even before I complete the click on the mouse......

Still wondering if I really need it, but I save about 5 quid a month, which I know is neither here nor there, but if it is that fast I will be able to watch netflix and Prime without buffering....
    Bring it on....

The girls will be made up and I won't get the earache of the WI-Fi not reaching the bedroom....
With this baby I can get WI-FI in the car park outside.

    I'm jealous haha
I live in a village that time (and technology) forgot.
It does have its advantages though, I loose the signal on the company mobile just as i turn into the cul-de-sac...very handy

I have BT summat or other, but only get about 40megawotsits.

Better than the 4 megathings that I was getting with the Post Office though.

Facebook still takes a few minutes to fully open. Yawwwwn. :frust:

That's a great connection speed, but it won't make any difference to the range of your wifi signal.

Well BT claims the SH6 is the most powerful wifi router out there compared to the other major players' routers ;)

I remotely support our customers and one can immediately tell when browsing our online ordering system from their PC when they have a fast connection. Generally quite noticeable at 70+ MB and upwards.

My router is sending the signal at 150 somethings per second. Is that good ?

Perhaps need to sort out my 2003 PC now.

Sounds like you are probably using Wireless N (802.11N) which transmits around that speed.

    http://homenetworkadmin.com/wireless-b-vs-g-vs-n-vs-ac-difference/

I think my laptop communicates with my router around 650MBs

Yup the wireless will easily be accomodating your broadband/fibre. Wifi might go faster if you replace the PC but the bottleneck would be the broadband anyhow.

Sadly lucky to get 9 meg, coupled with her poor connection out there conversations take a while! But I'm leaving for the Phils on Thursday for 6 weeks so can't wait! Yippppeeeeeee;);););););)

    Did they replace the router?

If they did it has probably got better aerials.

Your new router may well have a better range than your old one, but as oss says, it is most likely more to do with better antenna placement or orientation. That or the new router has a higher power built in transmitter. Speed has no direct correlation to range is the point that I was trying to make.

Yeah, also sometimes more importantly the channel selection can make a big difference, a couple of weeks back I found that just about every bloody router in the building had decided to follow me to channel 1 :)

So I moved to channel 8 manually to try to get some clear air and that has worked so far, auto channel selection can be pretty crap at times and all I have to get through is one fairly thin wall at a maximum range of 4 metres :D (I live in a shoebox :D)

Most of my kit is quite old and just running on 802.11n and I'm not sure the crappy Sky router actually supports anything better to be honest.
