hi! Again... finally married now & on our way for our FLR-M application. I have a few questions hope you all can help. Thanks in advance:

    1) I arrived in UK Nov 2016, it says I need to submit application a month before my visa expires ( May 2017 ). So my husband says we will do it early April . I have read some posts like I do need to submit it thru post office 3months before visa expiration as it will take at least 3 months for the approval yet can do it even a month before May if we do it in person? We're confused coz we plan to post it instead of going there personally for the submission. Any explanations , thank you it will be a very big help.

    2) we plan to go back in the Philippines after the FLR-M application approved then get married there again. Do you have any ideas guys if after we get married there, do we still need to do another visa application for me to come back in the UK? Or can I fly back in the UK with my husband after the Philippines wedding? It confused us a lot. Hope you guys can share any ideas or advices... thanks so much in advance!

You can apply for the FLR straight after marriage in the UK, no need to wait for the Fiancee visa to expire.

When you secure the FLR you will receive your BRP, you can use this to re-enter the UK, no need for another visa.

Hi Janella congratulations on your wedding.

    1. I take it that you are on a fiance visa and just recently married. I can confirm that you don't need to wait till April to apply for the FLR (M) . You can apply right away since you are already married. No need to wait a month before the expiration of your visa. If you apply by post it will take roughly 2 months (as far as the statistics I am seeing in the 'other forum' for applicants applying by post).

    2. Once your FLR(m) is granted you and you plan to go to Pinas for another marriage you don't need to apply for a visa anymore since you are already married here. I take it that the wedding you will have in Pinas is for your family there so they can witness it but only your UK marriage will be recognised, if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks Timmers & Brom27. How about paying the NHS? My husband says he did paid the insurance for 3yrs with my fiancé visa application in the Philippines before I came over here. Do we still need to pay it again?

    2. No need for a new visa. Just wanted to remind you to bring your CFO certificate to show to Phil Immigration (if in case they ask) when coming back here in the UK. Be safe than sorry. Good luck! ;)

Pay the NHS surcharge as part of applying for the premium same day visa service or pay on the NHS surcharge website and state the payment reference number on your application.

I'm guessing the insurance your husband paid was private insurance and I'm afraid this will not be accepted.

Hi @Janella , as long as you got married you can apply for flr(m).

I also arrived in glasgow last nov 2016 (hence would expire in May 2017) and got married 10days ago. We just visited the flr (m) premium center in glasgow this morning to submit the requirements and thats me waiting for my BRP!

I can now go to the philippines (or anywhere) anytime after i get the brp without worrying about visa entry to the UK for the next 30 months. (The flr (m) visa would be the equivalent to a spouse visa if you are a bit confused)

you can easily get an appointment in the glasgow office as the case worker told me they usually just handle around 15 cases a day. Of course application by post is cheaper and you will be waiting for a few weeks for decision.

as @Brom27 has mentioned, you can only do religious wedding/ceremony because you are technically 'married' in the eyes of the law of UK. You can register your marriage to NSO if you want to it in the philippine record and if you want to change your name to married one (if you think about it, when you fill up a form in the philippines to get married, you would put there 'marital status =married' so city hall employee/judge wouldnt be able to do it, even if it is with the same person).

Hope it makes sense. For any further clarification, please go ahead and ask.

So what's that healthsurcharge we've paid for on my fiancé visa application? It says it covered for 3 yrs? & how about this IHS stands for? How long this insurance will cover for? Sorry for many questions... just confused ‍♀️

The insurance you paid doesn't cover the NHS really. It has nothing to do with it at all. You will pay the IHS at £500, no exception.

If your husband have paid for ihs surcharge, he should have received an ihs number. If he has this, i would suggest that you call home office to check since we are sure that it wasnt used in your fiance visa application.

You paid for a health surcharge while on fiance visa? I'm confused. I never paid anything for that. That will be done on the FLR application.
    IHS is immigration health surcharge.

I think you're getting a little confused, the surcharge is only payable when you enter the UK on a spouse visa not Fiancée visa.

The IHS surcharge ( £500). Is the fee that must be paid to allow you to use the UK national health service.....Which is great value for money. It's not optional. Whatever health insurance your fiance paid is irrelevant.

Yes for sure my husband paid for insurance but he said he's not sure we got a reference # coz when he clicked to submit my fiancé visa application it says it won't submit without paying the health surcharge & he said he's for sure it covers for 3 years... too confusing

IHS is not a requirement on a fiance visa. I'm currently on a fiance visa. We didn't pay anything like that.
If your husband did, just ask him or look back for the IHS #. If you can't do that, better ring the home office. Because when you apply for FLR, you will surely need the IHS # as it is a requirement. As @bigmac said, it is NOT OPTIONAL. That must be paid.

You may have paid it by mistake, you're still going to have to pay for it again when you apply for the FLR, you could maybe get a refund for the initial mistake separately. It will get very confusing if you state in your FLR application that you have already paid, don't take that route, just pay for it again to save hassle.

@Methersgate paid by mistake, let him tell us how he resolved the problem.
