Its a good point, our young Scottish friend could run into difficulties.

All is not lost though, he could get married on a Saturday lets say and use the premium service a couple of days later to get the FLR(M).

You can apply for the premium service 42 days in advance so there is a good chance he could get a date right after the wedding.

Just thought though, she would not have the BRP until a week or so after the FLR application which in itself may be an issue traveling without it.

Many thanks Maharg - I wasn't aware of that.

So - it appears we have 3 options viz honeymoon:-

    1. Good old Blighty.

    2. Pay the premium and get FLR (m) same day - a few days after wedding (how long by does BRP take in such circumstances?)

    3. Apply online for FLR (m) and wait until they arrive (plus BRP) before arranging foreign holiday.

I'm thinking we may be heading south to beautiful Devon or Cornwall!:)

    Regards.

Personally, I'd wait until they get the BRP before venturing into Europe. Either that or take the honeymoon before the wedding!

I don't know how rigidly that rule would be followed, but it's certainly worth bearing in mind.

I thought I'd read this before so searched it out. That's the website of the Visa agency we used to get the fiancee visa.

BRP normally takes a week or so, if you can wait for that then everything will be dandy.

Thanks Tim - our posts crossed!

Thanks also for the "young" comment - not often a 57 year old is so described!;):like:

The visa thing is a pain in the backside. We were planning to go to Italy this year, but in the end it just seemed too much effort so we went to Thailand instead!

I agree, we don't like uncertainty, especially when you're honeymooning, it would spoil the honeymoon thinking all the time that there may be issues re-entering the UK.

Indeed, you're older than me, you're probably younger in mind and body though :)

I'll break the news to Kris - neither of us will want any problems with re-entry on honeymoon!

Always wanted to do the Welsh Highland narrow gauge railways - wonder if Kris likes steam trains?

Just a thought - are the Channel Islands classed as part of UK in this context? That is, could we go there without any visa issues?

    Danke!

The Channel Islands are not part of the UK, but like the IOM they are a Crown Dependency so I don't see an issue.
