Change of Address for BRP

    Hello BF Friends.

As some of you have known, my husband and I are expecting our baby in January and have decided to move to a bigger place very soon.

UKVI website clearly states that one must report any changes ( address, personal details, circumstances) if one has a visa/ Biometric Residence Permit (BRP). I am just wondering if anyone of you/ has a partner who have done this?

As I was following the steps in the UKVI, I was routed to a form only to be filled out by visa-holders under Tiers 1,2,4 or 5. I also read the Guidance notes for BRP ( https://www.gov.uk/government/uploa...BRP_-_In-Country_information_leaflet_post.pdf ) which has a change of address (COA) link that does not work. I understand that I can report the change of address without having to apply for a new BRP but I can't seem to find where to go or what I am supposed to do.

Can anyone shed some light with this matter?

    Thanks in advance. :)

I sent my query to the GOV.UK help desk:

Hi! I am trying to find out how to change my address for my Biometric Residence Permit. I have followed the steps in your site ( https://www.gov.uk/change-circumstances-visa-brp ) but I am routed to a page/ form to be filled out by visa-holders Tiers 1,2,4 or 5 only. I am under Spouse visa. I have also found the link in the Guidance notes for BRP- change of address ( https://contact-ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/aboutus/contact/changeAddress/ ) but the page cannot be displayed. Can you please help me? Thank you.

    This is their reply:

    Thank you for your message.
The following guides/page should help you in regards to your query:
Unfortunately the GOV.UK support team can not provide expert advice on visas or guidance.
If you have further queries you must contact the UK Visas and Immigration team (UKVI) directly:
    Kind regards

Looks like I'm around in circles with this. Wish me luck!

    Hi Anne

If you follow this link https://www.gov.uk/change-circumstances-visa-brp/youre-in-the-uk-and-have-a-brp you see it states
"You can report a change of address without having to apply for a new biometric residence permit (BRP)."

This means you can inform UKVI of address change online

It just doesn't make sense to fill-out that "POINTS BASED SYSTEM:MIGRANT CHANGE OF CIRCUMSTANCES FORM"

UKVI tell everyone who call them to just send the change of address online by following the link under
"You're in the UK and don't have a BRP"

    This takes you here

Use the online form to update your address or your legal representative’s address

Yes, I know what you're thinking.
    But at it works.

There's been so many new rules, changes and updates that proper cross referencing just doesn't get done.
Add the 'one-size-fits-all' concepts and it's a nightmare looking for logic and clarity.

Things ain't what they used to be

    Hi Anne,

Thank you once again for your feedback. I've raised this with the relevant department and will work with them to improve the content and user journey from this page.

    Many thanks,

This is the GOV.UK's response when I sent a feedback about their non-functional link and the steps I have to take in getting the correct form. I hope it'll show some improvement in the near future. :)

    Hello again BF friends.

My husband and I just finally moved in our new house. Last Thursday, I was trying to update our address for my biometric residence permit online. Upon finishing the form, there is an information that my details will be updated within 3 working days and information about the change will be sent to my e-mail address. Now that 3 working days has lapse, I did not receive any e-mails coming from UKVI.

I am planning to send a postal request with the Croydon address they provided. I am not really sure what form to use as the online form cannot be printed.

They are not going to make this easy for me, are they?

Anyway, I will try to make my own cover letter requesting to update my details and send it by post in the next couple of days with a recorded delivery.

We'll see how it goes.

Never easy! Is it not worth giving it a second shot on the online form Anne? Hope the house move wasn't too stressful :)

Already did it thrice but I still got no e-mail, hence the decision of the postal request. I still got 3 months to do this, anyway. It's just a shame they don't send any confirmation that they received my update. And there are no numbers to call. Hahay..

:D:DThe move went smoothly. My husband won't allow me to lift anything so I was sitting pretty all the time. We also had help with his bestfriend who owns a van.

That's the thing. No way to let them know when their supposedly thoroughly tested IT systems don't work.

I guess we would never know if they changed my address in the BRP. I sent a postal request with a recorded delivery and it has been signed for. I am keeping the tracking number and the receipt from post office just in case-- at least I got proof I made an effort to let them know I changed my address. Been entering my online request about 6 times but I still got no e-mail confirmation coming from UKVI.

It's really annoying when Government Depts just never bother to confirm anything.
At least you've got the proof, but I do understand the feeling I just wondering what on earth's going on.

Have to move again. Landlord decided to sell the house. We are not ready to buy yet and we think the price they offered is not worth it. Anyway, we found a bigger place which is closer to town.

When I updated my details online for my BRP, the form changed a bit. They let me upload IDs like passport and BRP and a proof of address like Council tax. And I got an e-mail confirmation this time. Unlike the last time, I have to send it through post with a recorded delivery so I have proof I was trying to let them know of the changes within 3 months since we moved.

Thanks for the update Anne. Seems they have improved things from a technical point of view which is good for us here at BF.
